If you cared to read publications.dice.se , you would see how they are utilizing Ps3's spu's to a great extent. They have PS3 specific papers there, and almost every paper related to frostbite 2 also mentions spu based computing for that task.
With this information, I would have thought the PS3 version would edge out among the console versions, and frankly I'm a little surprised. I'm not THAT surprised tho. RSX is PS3's worst feature, and the cell has to...
I don't think they would allocate resources for a map editor. I was surprised they had a very very good machinima feature for UC2 but it was barely used. Any spectacular use of it? I just know a few small scale machimas done with it but it somehow wasn't a hit in the scene.
I agreed to Anonym, then realized what he said wasn't exactly true about the disks. Every blu-ray disk has a unique identifier, this was to be used for the playstation rewards programme for example, which was later canned. They were to use the unique disk identifier of the bluray game for the first account that used the game. Any other accounts or PS3's wouldn't be able to get the reward points for it.
This means they can track the ps3 disk of the portal, and even use it...
Activision doesn't do demos, doesn't do betas for COD, at least pre-launch. They release the beta at launch, everybody buys it.
(It is partly true that when 10 million people play it, the'll find lots of bugs and glitches, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't do betas. There were some glaring bugs reported around the web which I think would be revealed even with a beta of 10k people.)
I don't think you need more than HD5870 to *enjoy* the game. Unless your definition of enjoyment is pretty much running a game maxed, not playing it. I mean, come on, HD5870 is a helluva card.
Do you think this can bring back anything? I don't think so. Think for a second that Sony gave in to whatever Anonymous was demanding. This would set a precedence, so any time Sony does something Anonymous or other hackers don't like, they would start doing this thing, as then they'd have an example; their previous attempt worked. It would be like letting the hackers control your company. You don't know when they can stop.
So all in all, even if Sony would h...
I don't think he sold out. He did the wise thing. If he hadn't, he might have had to pay for the "indirect damages" this has done to Sony. Do you know how many 0's can lawyers add to damages? You'd be surprised. There was no point in fighting anymore.
InTheKnow is not so in the know.
It has been 6 years since console launch, and they were already overtaken by mainstream PC video cards at launch (unlike PS2 at launch, which ran faster than any affordable PC). 6 years passed, and now the mainstream graphics cards are around 20 times faster if not more for most tasks, compared to mainstream vide cards of that day.
Many don't know what FPS is, and how it affects game, can't specify the difference between 60fps and 30fps indeed. But they feel it, without actually knowing. For example, many people may like a specific painting, although they may not tell why they like it, however, the color balance, the composition, the flow of the picture effects the overall perception of the painting.
One reason (not all the reason, don't get me wrong) iOs devices have been so succesful is ...
DICE has put a lot of effort using SPU's in tandem with RSX, much like first party devs.
Just read some of the stuff on publications.dice.se and you'll see they put a lot of effort into making use of SPU's and how it raises the bar for graphics. So, no, I don't think they are treating the PS3 as a step child.
Quality / performance wise, will PS3 be the better performing console, that's the question I'm asking.
What I wonder is, this time they worked quite a lot to get things working on SPU's, including shading tasks. Will this give PS3 a quality and / or performance edge over the Xbox version?
I applaud COD for sticking with 60fps. Most devs do not realize the benefits of it, but maintaining 60fps is very hard with consoles (I'm a console guy btw, not a pc elitist :) ) You can't have everything so dynamic and keep running at 60fps, so this generations we got mostly 30 fps games.
I hope next generation games will target 60fps 1080p, if not, 60fps / 720p.
Comparing this to COD is the biggest insult you can make. DICE is probably turning in their office chairs reading these comments.
The game looks killer, dammit.
I guess I need to plug my brother's awesome vs. level here:

Play it and rate it guys! He worked quite a lot on it..
I can't do KZ3 with the move either. Dual Shock all the way for me for hardcore games, I guess.
PSN is a free service, they are blocking people's right to play online. They could have just targeted the store part, which would make more "sense", in the sense that they want to hurt Sony. Now they are merely hurting/punishing the customers.
@El-Fenemono:
You have to understand why cloud saves are a paid service, it takes real resources to build it into the game os, store the info and make that info safe, and Sony needs to offload the costs of PSN from somewhere, and make Plus subscription a worthy investment. However, some games could come with cloud save feature even for users without Plus.
That said, if cross game chat if it ever comes will be a plus feature, it will be worthless.
"Lol @ disagrees" should be a button on N4G.
The water is not pre-rendered. The *pattern of the waves* can be pre-prendered. But the water surface is an actual 3d object. You can look at it from every angle. You cannot pre-render that.
Thanks for reminding me that I haven't played 5 minutes of BFBC2 single player yet. I think I'll start today.
