That's against the very core principles of console platforms. They didn't even increase the speed of the blu-ray for the uniformness of the platform: They want data streaming in games to be tailored to 2x bluray speed, and I'm sure that's currently the easiest component to upgrade, after 6 years.

You may be a very good programmer, but I don't think you are following the PC gfx scene well.
Just because they account for lower end PC's, doesn't mean that an optimized PS3 code can outperfom the sheer raw power of even a mainstream GFX card. Their engine is scalable, and there are a lot of things that they can dial back on low end PC's, but they can switch on all the bells and whistles on a mainstream PC (not even high end)
DICE has done a LOT to push PS3 to its limits. Look at the publications they have posted.
Everybody complaining, shut the hell up. BF3 has a dynamic world that Kz3 would dream of. And it looks STELLAR. If people like Kz3 gfx more, it means they like the dirty look, the art style, whatever. I'd be really willing to see how KZ engine handled similar scenarios. I'm assuming it wouldn't look as good as BF3.
PS2 was stronger when it launched compared to PC's as far as I remember, but yes, both PS3 and Xbox360 were slightly weaker than PC's at launch.
I prefer 60fps but since when 30fps became an issue? Most games this gen runs at 30fps. God of war doesn't maintain 60fps, but it is still butter smooth (check out frame rates at digital foundry)

Good luck comparing uncharted with anything then, they have their own engine. Art style is different, yes, but from your viewpoint, you can only compare frostbite games to frostbite games, unreal engine games to unreal engine games etc etc. That's not how it works.
That laptop has mobility radeon 4250, which receives around 1500 points in 3dMark06.
Nvidia 7800 receives around 5000 points.

3d using drivers is one thing, game designed for 3d is another thing.
Years and years ago, I had a asus tnt video card with drivers with 3d glasses, so yeah, PC was indeed first for the tech. But the games weren't designed for 3d, you had to set 3d properties within the drivers (eye seperation and angle being the most important parameters). The fact that the game didn't support meant that huds didn't work properly, different camera angles within the game needed ...
