Guys, normal map extraction from several million poly models have been the norm since this generation. What they'll do is to re-map this to lower poly models using normal mapping, and next gen will probably even allow displacement mapping using tesselation.
Anything above 1080p is ridiculous overkill. If your game looked as good as Dark Knight in 1080p, would you be still asking for 4K?
Heck, for 32inch screens at reasonable viewing distances, you can't even tell full HD from HD. Human eye has a resolution limit too (60th of a degree for people with 20/20 vision)
4k is not necessary for house viewing. There I said it. This is not even like the "640KB is ought to be enough for everybody" kind of issue. The resolution we need in typical home viewing distances, we'd need 100 inch screens or probably even more for 4K to matter over full HD material.
It's no excuse. People's faces could be generated procedurally using sets of base meshes.

Way to milk a single interview :)
@Biggest:
CGI is "Computer-generated imagery", it doesn't have anything to do with audio.
What stoepkrijt said.
If a game looked as good as a 720p movie (at 60fps, tho), I sure won't complain.
Yes, and people still claim BC2 had similar problems. It is not even similar to begin with. See how the guy spawning in the other corner at about 1:30 takes out the player? That should have happened much earlier.
BC2 or Battlefield 3 doesn't have this kind of problem. There was spawn camping indeed, but people weren't spawned in a single location to be killed several times by simply standing in a single spot. 2-3 coordinated guys could sneak out of spawn camping in BC2.
I don't say such a shot could not be made, but you wouldn't see your bullet that big even if it is a tracer. The marker is unrealistically big so you can trace it even at long distances.
I never liked it either. I get more angry than the birds while playing it, could get no joy out of it.
It's an unrealistic marker assist so you can detect your shot, I'm perfectly fine with it. I even think there's some bullet "size" assist at greater distances, to make up for the lack of input precision required for very long distance kills, to get this kind of over the top shootings :)
4K?? I always say, resolution is overrated.
At about 3 meters, it is very hard to distinguish between 720p and 1080p on a 40inch screen. You need a 50inch TV to begin to appreciate the difference, at 3 meters. It is because human eye can resolve 1/60th of a degree for people with 20/20 vision. Some people are beyond it, but I don't think they will see twice better..
Just look at this chart:
Yes, I'd choose 720p 60fps over 1080p 30fps anytime of the day. I hope they are going for 1080p 60fps, tho!
They overestimated RSX. Cell is a good performer, but it shouldn't have been made to make up for RSX's shortcomings. It should have been calculating cloth physics, thousands of particles, pathfinding etc etc. But RSX simply doesn't have power to translate everything onto the screen.
Unfortunately CELL is used to make up for the RSX's relatively poor performance.
Yes, from now on, the DLC will be available to all accounts on the PS3. That's awesome, as the reason I wasn't buying the DLC was mainly because my gaming user is a different region account than my payment account.
This is great news!
A multi-national billion dollar company putting a joke in ToS? What dimension are you living in? And to take that no-sue clause as a joke..
I hope you are trying to be sarcastic, but you need to make it a little more obvious.
Good times! I remember the explosives didn't actually stick in 1942, it somehow floated and followed the jeep. Very amusing.
This looks superb.
This is actually very good, as I can get my PS3 fix for a few mins without having to take over the TV, good for when I crave for a game but the situation in the living room doesn't allow it.
