Well, his (weak, which is typical of HHG) argument is "Well, S-E has been so nice to the 360 this gen, and since FF13 looks so great on the PS3, they wouldn't make it look bad on the 360, right? Right? RIGHT??!?!" without stopping to consider the craptastic job S-E has done so far at getting games to run well on the 360.
Funny how the media holds ANY PS3 exclusive to the high sales standards of games like Halo 3 and Gears 2, even though the marketing budget for said PS3 game is 1/20th the size of Gears 2. Heck, they don't even hold other 360 games (Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo Kazooie:N&B, etc) to that same standard.
Because we've totally seen FF13 on the 360 and how well it runs, amirite?
No one talks about Metacritic anymore, yet roughly 1 year ago that was ALL people talked about. However, once the PS3 started owning Metacritic with MGS4, LBP, etc., apparently Metacritic stopped being so important.
Just like "teh digital download!" was once so important until PS3 took the lead in that area.
Just like "teh number of online playerz!" was once so important until PS3 took the lead in that area, too.
Wow. Not sure that's something they should be proud of...or something gamers should be supporting with their money.
I certainly hope so. I love my PSP (especially now that it's hacked to play a bunch of PS1 games, SNES games, etc), but I do like seeing it being supported with...you know...actual PSP games.
Sales don't matter. It's all about cross-movie chat now. Can you chat with someone watching Harry Potter on Blu Ray while you're watching Die Hard on Blu Ray? No? Didn't think so.
Instant fail.
Let's hope so. I just pray that the "more it can do" goes beyond Unreal Engine. I want to see someone make a true proprietary engine on the 360 that pushes it to the limits. I'm sick of the greasy, blocky-head look of all these UE3 games when the 360 hardware can do more.
True, but in a perfect world I would have liked to see the Fallout property remain in Interplay's hands as much as possible. Bethesda didn't do the franchise justice, IMO. F3 wasn't a BAD game, but it wasn't very Fallout-ish, either.
So a predominantly American company that does most of its business in the USA and makes most of its marketing money from Microsoft is downing the 3rd-place console in America?
Gee, I've never seen THIS before...
I'd be angry too if I was stuck playing Battlefront.
I'll know it when I see it. Remember, the size of the game doesn't matter if they put it on multiple disks. It might be a 30 Gig game thrown on 1 Blu Ray or 4 DVDs for all we know.
I'm just curious to see how it runs on the 360 and even the PS3. It has nothing to do with the disk space, the console power of the 360 or PS3, or anything like that.
Rather, I have yet to see Squarenixidos do anything even remotely impressive on next-gen hardware compared to games like Ge...
Still waiting to see if this game is even going to be good. Capcom has done an excellent job this generation of playing it safe and not innovating at all.
If Microsoft makes a Zune HD, I'd like to see them go the handheld gaming route (a la Sony PSP or Nintendo DS) instead of another competitor for the iPod/iTouch/iWhatever.
Let's face it. Competing against Apple was a failure for Microsoft when it came to the Zune. I'm not saying it's a bad product. It's a very good one, but it couldn't compete with the iPod.
However, with 50 million PSPs sold, 100 million DSs sold, and no signs of either slowing down, I think the han...
@ All-3
Fair question. I mean, WHY are LBP and Killzone 2 and Uncharted and MGS4 only selling 1 or 2 or 4 million? That's CRAZY, especially since their marketing budgets were 1/20th the size of Halo 3's and Gears 2's! I mean, I just can't UNDERSTAND how those top-rated games are ONLY selling a few million copies.
Hmmm. I wonder...y'know, I think you can find your answer right next to this question:
Why aren't Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo Kazooie, Dead Rising, T...
My question is this:
Back when Microsoft was spouting off about attach rates and percentages, the media as a whole was taking it at face value without a question.
Back then, "attach rate" seemed to be the most important thing because after all....the better your attach rate is, the more XCLUSIVZ U GONNA GET!!!! At least, that was the line of thought for many many months.
However, now that it seems Sony has the edge here (in a department where t...
I'll believe it when I see it.
Right now, the 360 has very few 3rd-party exclusives on the horizon and even fewer 1st-party exclusives. The PS3 has the momentum, that there's little that Microsoft has to counter it.
Game reviews are becoming less and less reliable. I mean, imagine if you read Gamespot's review of "Ratchet&Clank: Tools of Destruction" (a 7.9/10 score) and decided not to play that game. You'd be missing out on one of the best action-adventure games of this generation.
It's sad -- but it was expected -- that as video games became more mainstream, the critics would become less and less reliable, just like music, TV, and movie critics these days.
Funny how the article right above this one on the main page is from HHG.
