Gamers need to wake up.
These days, the media cares more about pre-orders, attach rates, and overall sales than quality! We've become market analysts, not gamers. STOP BOASTING ABOUT SALES!
Let's worry about quality, because we all know that many well-loved 360 games (and PS3, and Wii, and PS2, and DS, etc. etc) did not received the same great sales that Halo and Gears have. Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Ninja Gaiden 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Crackdown, Viva Pinata...
This generation is doing just fine. I want to see the 360 and PS3 last several more years. Just look at the difference between launch games...
PS3 - Resistance:FoM compared to Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2?
360 - Call of Duty 2 compared to Mass Effect 2 and Halo: Reach?
I mean, the difference in graphics and gameplay mechanics is pretty sizable. Imagine what 4 more years of dedicated development could do on the current machines.
"Black Ops is the game to beat this year"
For sales, yeah.
But for everything else (graphics, gameplay, support, non-glitchyness) it has already been beaten by dozens of other 360 and PS3 games this year.
I also do not consider Kinect nor Move "next gen". Both are trying to refine the motion-control craze started by the Wii.
Honestly, I'd like to see both Sony and Microsoft focus on DEVELOPING EXCLUSIVES. Both the 360 and the PS3 are going to be fine for the next several years. Therefore, I'd like the console manufacturers to focus on games, not cute little hardware upgrades.
While even Call of Duty 4 was great, it was simply that: great. Not earth-shattering. Not amazing. Not something for the entire game industry to copy over and over again.
I gave up on Call of Duty in the PC/Xbox/PS2 era.
But let's be fair here:
It's not like the F1 devs are the movers and shakers in the industry. It would be like "Professor Layton devs not interested in Kinect". Whoop-dee-doo. It's a bigger piece of news when devs like Bungie, EPIC, and Lionhead Studios aren't using Kinect....oh wait.
@ below "Lionhead is the studio behind Milo"
...which Molyneux admitted was nothing more than a tech demo. He has also said...
Xbox Live.
Shouldn't there be some PC games in there?
Another top 10? Oh well.
Ramm killing Kim is not epic nor emotional. It made me fall on the floor laughing hysterically, seeing the devs attempt (and fail) at being even the least bit emotional or dramatic.
Doesn't it make more sense to offer it to Justin Bieber fans?
Or am I mistaken? Are hardcore 360 gamers pumped to go river-rafting and pet a virtual tiger?

If I'm trolling, please point out anything incorrect I have said. I think the reason why N4G hates me and labels me a troll is because I simply state the facts that I use to form my negative opinions.
Yeah...
Itagaki, creator of the most influential and innovative series in the whole game industry (Ninja Gaiden) is CERTAINLY the one to ask about whether Japanese games are dying out or not.

Like I have said in the past, the western media likes to pretend that features don't exist until Halo implements them. This list is a perfect example, because every single point of the list has been done in other games - and other FPSs - first. I'm not saying Halo Reach will be a bad game. In fact, I'm going to try it out on my friend's 360. But let's give credit where credit is due.
Programmable AI? Halo Reach is certainly not the first to use this.
“We don’t really want to refer to and dwell upon the Metal Gear saga so much.”
And how is that in ANY way a good thing? One of the winning aspects of the MGS series is how it continually refers back to past events and foreshadows future events.
The gameplay itself may be good, and I will still buy and play this game. However, I enjoy MGS games for the story, and it looks like Rising may disappoint in this regard. Oh well. It's not like we all didn't a...
Cyborb Ninja. Alllllll right!
Both systems were epic, but Genesis had a lot more underrated gems such as Phantasy Star, Comix Zone, and Alex Kidd, not to mention the fact that the Sonic games were (and still are) masterpieces.
I have played games on consoles, handhelds, and PC since the days of DOS and the NES. I reserve the right to be a stuck-up jerk.
I hope it's R3 also. The Resistance series always does a great job with "large scale battles" and fun-to-use weapons.
Sad thing is....
...people will dismiss what Greywulf said even though everything he mentioned is 100% factual (review scores, sales, fanboy hype, etc.)
Here's a bub, Grey. Not that it'll make much of a difference.
A new Everquest game could be a total revival of the franchise, or it could be a flop. I dunno. IMO, I would like to see Sony take a stab at Bethesda and make a less-buggy open world game with minor multiplayer aspects (like 4-player co-op or something). I don't want yet another subscription-based MMO.
True that.
Though I don't know how KZ3 or Gears 3 will change my life. Both games look great but they aren't all that different from the games that preceded them. The same goes for MvC3.
