Mass Effect 2 - even when it was on 360 and PC - was designed to be a stand-alone experience. THAT'S A SIMPLE FACT.

So many fanboys forget that. Does Mass Effect 1 add storyline? OF COURSE! However, ME2 was designed from the start to be a stand-alone experience. Bioware is also adding a "prequel" sequence in the PS3 version of ME2 to explain all the major plot points of ME1.

So, will PS3 gamers miss out on anything? Yeah, they'll miss out on...

Kinect would be an initially-disappointing but potentially-awesome piece of hardware if:

1. It delivered on the hardcore games it promised
2. It delivered on even HALF of the capabilities that Project Natal boated
3. Microsoft didn't ignore hardcore gamers by pumping out another Halo, another Gears, another Fable, and nothing else, instead focusing only on Kinect.

This is a pretty good list, but keep in mind that there are a ton of great RPGs on the handhelds and on PC, too.

I wonder why people keep giving Microsoft the benefit of the doubt. They've been giving M$ the benefit of the doubt ever since they underdelivered in 2009 and yet...

...and yet people hold Nintendo and Sony to some incredibly high standard.

M$ is in a terrible slump from which they might not recover. They're delivering less and less and less. That's a simple fact. No reason to ignore the facts.

If even Michael "M$ lover" Pachter is spelling doom for Kinect, then it really is doomed.

"Core gamers will be all over Kinect"

No matter how many times you say it, it doesn't magically make it true.

And Kinect's popularity can't be gauged by how many hits it gets on N4G or how many preorders it has on Amazon...

PC devs have it worse with straight-up piracy. At least used game sales imply that at some point a person bought the game.

Stardock has done a fantastic job of giving gamers incentives to buy their games by making their free support, updates, and add-on content only available to people who have a valid CD key.

Obviously Halo will sell more on the onset, but Move is a peripheral with 40+ games announced for it. Halo Reach is just one game.

I think the better question is "which one will hold your attention after the first two months?"

What if I don't enjoy Halo? Not trolling, just asking. I don't like Gran Turismo, Motorstorm, MAG, SOCOM, or several other PS3 exclusives, for the record, but I do have other alternatives.

But what if I don't enjoy Halo?

Prediction:

FF14 announced for 360, the Western media pretends it's a big deal.

That's to be expected, but pretty lame.

I don't think Achievements changed gaming forever. They simply scratched the same itch that Hi-scores used to scratch in the '80s and '90s in the arcades.

If you're not a kid and you remember arcades, "Achievement whores" back then were called "hi-score junkies" and they were that douchebag who would never give up "their" game cabinet because all they wanted to do was rank on the Top 10 scoreboard.

Achievement wh...

No matter what happens, Xbox fanboys will always believe LIVE is better. It MUST be better in order to rationalize the yearly fees. Even in the face of cold, hard facts, they will stick to their version of the truth.

Just like when PS3 began to dominate Metacritic.

Just like when the PS3 outsold the 360 every year (8.5 million lead shrunk to 3.5 million and some people still deny it. Math much?)

Just like when the PS3 began to get versions of...

All of those RPGs are awesome. Breath of Fire is an especially great gem.

Terranigma should be #1 on that list, IMO.

The hardcore have said over and over and over and over and over again that it's not the controls, it's the gameplay. Heck, most journalists would even say that. They've said it about the Wii for years. Why is Kinect any different?

I'll tell you what WOULD win the hardcore over to Kinect: games. And what's the #1 thing that Kinect is lacking right now? Hardcore games.

Part of me doubts that Halo Reach fixes problems in multiplayer when the Halo franchise has been a key player in creating many of those same problems.

We may see another Wii and 360 in two years, but Sony knows they're on a roll. I highly doubt they'll blow the momentum with the PS3 by launching the PS4. If anything, they'll just launch the PSP2 and work on that platform as their "new" platform.

This article is bull.

1. Innovate, don’t duplicate!
Riiiight. Because Sony didn't take some risks with Blu Ray and the Cell. Because Sony didn't come out with Little Big Planet. Because Sony didn't come out with PSN+, the first console-based discount service. The only big duplication I can think of is Trophies.

2. Better Launch Titles
People need to wake the heck up. Neither 360 nor Wii had great launch titles, either. Wii had Ze...

Having played the demo, I hafta disagree with 1up. Shank is good. But it's not great, and it certainly isn't on par with DMC or God of War. This kind of exaggeration in the face of several other overrated beat-em-ups hitting the market right now (Scott Pilgrim, I'm looking at you) makes me not want to get this game.

Gamescom is becoming a big show, but you have to remember than part of the reason why E3 and TGS are large shows is because the countries in which they occur are home to the biggest number of game devs.
