Halo: CE was influential. Yes, that's true, but the most influential shooter ever? I think the author of this article needs to play more games. Halo borrowed lots of ideas from Tribes, half Life, and several other shooters that came out prior to Halo.
Y'know, I bet they'll show off a relatively "core" game like an on-rails shooter or a cartoony racing game and the 360 fanbase will go bonkers and scream "SEE!?!?!? KINECT IS HARCORE!!!!"
The only people saying "PC gaming is dead" are certain console-only gamers and disenchanted former PC gamers.
Various people from the media have been saying "PC gaming is dead" since the PS1 came out. Don't be ignorant, gamers. Know your history.
@ title
Kinect is barely a step in any direction. It's a slight evolution (but mostly an imitation) of concepts already done by Eye and EyeToy.
And no, this isn't a Sony vs Microsoft comparison. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything coming out for Kinect (not tech demos, but actual games coming out) that hasn't already been done in some way on other camera-based games.
When I heard about OnLive a few months ago, I looked into it. It is 100% legit. Gamers should be paying closer attention to this, but sadly so many "gamers" are stuck in their own narrow one-console gaming world instead of exploring what other games are out there.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if ME3 hit the PS3 at the same time as the 360. It's the way the industry will be from now on.
Why WOULD rivals wish to copy Kinect?
Didn't we get this exact same article title from RunDLC last night?
The 360-worshipping media is out in full force. They couldn't come up with enough excuses why ME2 on PS3 "was not a big deal", and now they're really kicking into overdrive with the Xbox Live price hike.
In the past 12 months Microsoft has been losing studios, losing exclusives, failing to show off new exclusives, failing to fix the 360's hardware problems, and failing to deliver on Project Natal's lofty promises.
360-only gamers should just do the right thing and get a PS3. By all means, keep the 360, but at least now you can have an alternative.
Die-hard Halo fans tend to forget that there are other video games in existance. It helps make their claims of "Halo is the best ever!" more believable within their own minds.
And heeeeere comes the Microsoft Defense Force.
Oh, but I thought there was no media bias and that N4G belonged to Sony fanboys?
*rolls eyes*
Microsoft can do no wrong. Yet, for those of us who are older than 17, we know Microsoft is a chump company.
M$ could have done this 2 years ago (they had the exclusives to blind people), but not now. Not with their dwindling list of exclusives.
All the more reason to buy a PS3 like true gamers should have done all along.
Ask yourself if $60 a year is worth it to play the online modes of multiplat games that are free on other platforms. Ask yourself if $60 a year is worth it to play the "huge" amount of upcoming 360 exclusives...
"Not a big deal".
As if $50 a year for cross-game chat and a bunch of features that are free elsewhere wasn't enough, now M$ wants more?
And y'all should be proud! Your Xbox Live money goes to a good cause: Kinectimals 2!
It's a hard choice between LBP2 (so many different game types), GT5 (so many cars with so much customization), and Reach (multiplayer customization up the wazoo). All three offer something unique, so gamers win.
I don't think Mafia II is all that great (and I played it on PC). I think some people are simply desperate for a non-GTA gangster game.
360 really has to bring something special. They've been dallying too long. 360 2009's lineup was decent, but it relied on a few key titles, and there weren't a ton of titles throughout the year. 360 in 2010 has several solid titles (ME2, Reach), but the pickings are even slimmer than 2009, and Microsoft showed off NOTHING this year as far as new games. You can see the decline of games quite clearly. I can't imagine any self-respecting gamer is impressed with Microsoft's cu...
PSP has some sweet stuff still, ya gotta admit. Peace Walker came out this year and that game was absolutely awesome.
I'm sure it's highly anticipated. Just like the next Madden and Rock Band are anticipated.
I'm not saying Reach will be a bad game, but can we please just lay off the popularity contest for a bit and worry about quality?
Unlike Duke Nukem 3D, I highly doubt DNF will offer anything funny or controversial that hasn't already been done.
