Indeed. Although I was hoping mightily for a new cross-platform Patapon game. That series is long overdue to see the light on PS3, and it would be a good fit on PSV also. An appearance from The Last Guardian would have been nice as well.

Even so, Sony announced plenty at E3 and Gamescom this year.

Fortunately I have the opposite problem. An October 30 release will give me enough time to get my fill of Borderlands 2.

It could include a disc drive and still not use discs for games. A flash memory/solid state-type format would be great for games in terms of fast load times, better draw distance, no texture pop-in, etc. I just don't know how it would be feasible on a cost basis. A 20-40GB cartridge/card would cost a lot more than a blu-ray disc I would think.

The ultimate goal I can't wait for is games installed on a solid state drive. Having the entire game ready to be read off ...

I don't think Sony and Microsoft are that worried about Nintendo right now (not saying they shouldn't be). I'm guessing they're banking on Wii U popularity not exploding like it did with the Wii.

Looking at sales so far, the Wii is at 96 million while the 360 and PS3 are at 68 and 66 million. Second and third place isn't the death knell that it was last gen. I don't know where the Wii will finish, but I'm sure both the 360 and PS3 will each re...

The PS3 had a launch price of $500-$600 (adjusted for inflation, that's $550-$650 today) and a launch lineup that consisted of one quality title (Resistance). That's a pretty big obstacle.

I didn't click disagree, but that could be a reason others did.

"...ps4/720 news is going to be coming within months of the WiiU being released."

Nope. E3 2013 at the earliest. With The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, and Gears of War: Judgement all coming out next year there's no way they'd cannibalize sales of their current consoles with a next gen announcement.

The longer they wait to release their next console, the better tech they can use at lower costs.

The 4GB 360 has a hard drive bay in it. There's no reason to expect this new 12GB PS3 (if real) will not. Many people will upgrade and put their old PS3 drive in there. Others can buy a 1TB HDD for less than $100.

As long as the price point is low, this is an excellent SKU.

Or, if it has an HHD bay, you could put a 1TB drive in it for less than $100.

If it has an HHD bay and it costs $200 or less then yes, this is pretty awesome. People can buy 1TB HHDs for less than $100.

In other words: super-slim 1TB PS3 for under $300.

The PS3 version had major problems, but the 360 version was pretty playable from what I've heard. The gameplay is solid, but that story.....that dialogue.....

Bayonetta 2 could be a very good game if they whip up a better story and keep it bug free. Time will tell.

Not everyone has $370 to plunk down at a whim (console + game + tax). I myself do not have that problem, but many gamers are still in school and don't have jobs. If I were a Bayonetta fan, only owned a PS3/360, and this happened 5 years ago I'd be pretty bummed. Fortunately I no longer have financial restraints when it comes to gaming.

Hurray for jobs!

You listed three games from Japanese developers: two that didn't sell well in America and one that wasn't even released in America.

Monster Hunter Tri: 560,000 (1 million in Japan)
Dragon Quest X: Not released in America
Tatsunoko VS Capcom UAS: 270,000 (490,000 global)

I'm fairly confident that the games I listed are just a bit more popular to gamers than the three you did.

Nowhere in my first post did I say anyth...

I hate to break it to you, but 1GB of RAM isn't anywhere in the ballpark of more than enough. Why? Three words: 3rd party games

It's long been said that the next gen consoles will have 4GB of RAM or more. Do you really think that once those consoles come out that 3rd party devs won't optimize their engines for that?

Why do you think that every great 3rd party game this gen (Resident Evil, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fallout, Elder Scroll...

Take a look at this:

As you can see, they're leaving a lot of what makes Dead Space great intact. Visceral just doesn't want to become predictable and make another game where you "Walk around a space ship/station and shoot limbs". If Dead Space 3 took place entirely in another ship or station I think it would be ...

"...I quite liked his enthusiasm for the game."

"...he just annoys the hell out of me. All he goes on about is 'freaking awesome' this and 'super cool' that."

So you liked his enthusiasm for Dead Space, but you're annoyed that he's enthusiastic about Dead Space 3? Makes perfect sense.

Prediction:

At the Tokyo Game Show, Sony will reveal four new characters from Japanese franchises:

Wander or Ico
LocoRoco
A Patapon soldier
Solid Snake

At least, that's what I hope happens. Fingers crossed.

Resistance: Fall of Man had a really good dark tone/atmosphere.

Resistance 2 had the best multiplayer option (8 player co-op).

Resistance 3 had the best story.

That's my opinion anyway.

Yup, what Conzul said. Here's what you do:

1) Run at the colossus about 5 paces, then stop and wait for it to swing at you (do not stand on the stone platform).

2) After it swings and gets the "sword" stuck, jump on and run to the crack by the front third of the sword and hold crouch/duck.

3) Look at its feet when it starts to raise the sword. When the sword gets about 1/4 of the way up it'll step down with one of its feet...

60fps is nice when it's paired with realistic movement. Call of Duty has 60fps, but the players run, turn around, and can knife a person all at light speed. Not to mention reloading is cartoonishly quick.

But I say that because I prefer the natural movement of Battlefield. People move around like...people. It's fine to like COD, it's just not for me.
