The issue is not "scripting" the show, the issue is FAKING the technology you're supposed to be showing. Even if you have to script the show, so that all the actors know what they're supposed to be doing, there's only one explanation for having them try to mime their movements in sync with a pre-rendered display:
KINECT DOESN'T WORK
It may work eventually, and even be fantastic (tho I'm not holding my breath). But it's perf...
That statement is just plain dumb.
Kinect does innovate a bit: Okay, fine, let's assume that this whole-body-3D-tracking actually works somewhat, in a way that's usable for games. Something that is by no means proven yet, in my eyes. If that's the case, then yes, it will have innovated "a bit" beyond EyeToy.
But then wouldn't you say that Move, if it's shown to have much higher fidelity than Wii-waggle, combined with video ove...
C'mon already. Not to gloat or anything, but this is exactly what some of us have been saying for months now. E3 was MS' chance to put up, or shut up.
Remember all the vague assurances that accompanied the tedious Ricochet demo? "Oh, that's the old code; the new stuff is much better". What about all the pie-in-the-sky claims about Milo, and an amazing new dawn of advanced AI? They've had an entire year to "perfect" the tech, and they c...
I called it - they've simply been stalling for time, trying to get *something* to work. The timing of Bach's & Allard's departure makes perfect sense - somebody eventually had to deliver the bad news that this was gonna be a colossal failure.
Of what? The poncho with shoulder pads? Yeah, that could be pretty cool.
This is a totally fake MS marketing site. You'd think they could try to hide it a little better than "Beehivecity" (*ahem* "I love bees").
Just try to enter a comment on the "article" that isn't totally glowing, and watch it disappear.
The audience are sure to thrill to Cirque du Soleil's latest production: "Fumeé et Miroirs".
"The cool thing about Natal is the voice command. ‘Xbox on’."
Oh, I can't WAIT to see this! I want to see how they're going to have Natal turn on the console, without...you know...being ON already. Especially with offloading a lot of the processing to the system cpu.
Wait, I know - the Clapper! Every Natal is going to include a clap recognition device, which will activate the system so that it can do voice recognition, and then turn...som...
Mark my words, here's what you're going to get. A re-packaged X360 including Natal, with a re-designed interface and lots of Minority Report hype. They'll probably pay Spielberg himself to endorse it. Lots of glitz, lots of branding, some functions like TV remote control, etc. And VERY LITTLE in the way of games, beyond the predictably "casual" (read lame). In other words, they're going to do everything they can to mask the inherent limitations of accuracy and l...
Is it too late to tell Dumas here that the PS3 doesn't HAVE a "graphics card"? It does have a graphics processor, which is a tightly integrated part of the system.
I'm just sayin', it doesn't exactly help one's credibility to - literally - not actually know what you're talking about.
All you haters can just keep whining. If they've managed to bring the tech this far in the past year, just IMAGINE what the final product is going to be like!
I predicted this months ago. They're beginning to realize the inherent problems with this as a game controller, and that they're just not going to solve the technical problems. Therefore, they'll start to shift expectations, and try to wow people with promises of Minority Report tv remote controls, play up the whole AI angle, and whatever other non-gaming fluff they can think of.
This is a big bag of hurt, and I can't wait for E3. Smoke and mirrors aren't gonna fly, and they c...

^^^ Hahaha! We've got a live one, folks. There are still a few out there. Still trying to find a way to twist the numbers, explain away massive growth, and shout dire predictions of the DD future.
“Imagine if I invented the bicycle and tried to explain it to you... you would look at me as if I was some kind of lunatic. You have to build the bicycle first."
So, in other words, they can't do any focus group testing, because it hasn't been built yet.
Seems he was being a little bit more honest than he intended to be. This also explains:
"Am I allowed to talk about the Natal stuff?" "No," came the reply.
Whoa, revisionist history, much?
"When MS made the 360 they where focused on..." GETTING TO MARKET FIRST. That's it, period. With Playstation owning the market, they could not come out second. And everything you've seen since (RROD fiasco, HD-DVD debacle, DVD gimping) stems from that single decision that they had to grab market share, above all. Sorry, them are just the facts.
Whatever YOU say MS was focused on, they themselves shouted loudly about HD...
But, of course, they couldn't. Because they wanted to rush to market first, at all costs, before either HD disc format was ready. If they had later started releasing games on HD-DVD, they'd have a fragmented market, with millions of consoles already sold with just DVD. It's not like you can instantly force everyone to buy the add-on, so now you're having to release TWO versions of every game.
A pretty clear case of reaping what you sow.
Careful what you wish for. "Do something" probably means rushing out a new console asap. There's not a lot else they can do. It's not like they could just start making games on Blu-ray anyway, given the millions of DVD-equipped systems out there. It could get ugly real fast if Natal is a big fail.
A more correct way of saying it would be "Xbox CAN'T USE Blu-Ray". Just as it couldn't use HD-DVD.
And you can't say "digital media is the future" without also acknowledging "DVD is the past."
That is obvious bullcrap. Then what the hell was the point? Why not just show people a movie? Why not show attendees a big red disclaimer:
NOTHING YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE USES KINECT IN ANY WAY
And what about the months of lies?: "Oh, this lame demo you're seeing isn't running on the latest code. It's much better now."
Please...
