Sorry, I know this may upset some folks, but why did they include a Bluray drive? They told us years ago that physical media was dead.

Do you really want a system that becomes useless if you take it somewhere without a 'net connection?
Do you really want a system that forces your personal living space to be constantly scanned & observed?
Do you really not want to OWN any content you buy any more?
Do you really want a system that's a constant cut-taking middle man to everything you watch, play, listen to?

He meant advantages for Microsoft, silly.

1. I don't understand why people would assume that MS will allow you to just "put a towel over Kinect". It seems that if they're making it mandatory, they could also require a room view.
2. Who is out there wanting to switch back & forth between a game and watching TV, or using Skype?
3. I don't think that BC on the PS4 is a closed issue. Streaming games via Gaikai may be the BC solution, for ALL THREE previous gens.
4. All this about &q...

This guy comes off as a typical, uninformed kid. "It doesn't affect me personally, so it's not a big deal". How about this instead: "It would be no big deal at all for MS to NOT require always connected." Ask yourself - are they doing this for you, or for them?

They don't want you to play a used game, or watch a movie, or basically do anything, unless they're in the middle, figuring out a way to take a cut. And if that means you just w...

Agreed that the state of consoles has worsened, though not that PCs are any better. These days no console game is ever "finished", and the constant system updates makes one pine for the good ol' days when a console was locked down. But he left out the primary cause: the consumer has also gotten a lot worse. Conditioned by years of atrocious PC software and OSes, they simply accept and buy any form of abuse. In-game advertising, games shipped as beta tests, everything-as-a-se...

I don't understand why anyone would assume that features like eye-tracking would be optional, given that apparently an always-on Kinect will be mandatory. Even if you can disable the auto-pause, is there any reason to believe that MS wouldn't still be collecting data about everything you do, how many people are in the room, etc., to sell to advertisers & content providers? Why do you think they're doing this - to give you "futuristic" technology? This is a company...

And pausing every time you glance away for a bag of chips, or to make eye contact with a friend? Anyone who sees this as a desirable feature probably needs to look away from their tv more often.

Can't wait: "Sorry, unable to access channel - missing dll. E00800403"
Pop-up: "We hope you're enjoying NFL Football. Wave hand for a special offer from Bud Light."

2004 called. It wants its argument back.

It's obvious what they're after: total control over what games you play, what content you access, when and how. A constant stream of data they can sell to publishers, advertisers, etc. I'd be more upset about the mandatory Kinect - having a camera constantly monitoring everything you do in your home. I'm sure it all looks like the holy grail from their side; we'll see if they pull the trigger and make this suicidal call.

Jesus, Sony. C'mon already, this is getting embarrassing. Can't you people even code & test a simple transaction like this?

I know everybody's under pressure, but enough is enough.

Donning my flamesuit, but first reaction = "Too different".

I've gotta give 'em the benefit of the doubt tho, since Warhawk has consumed so many hours of my life. Was definitely expecting, and would've been content with, more of a "Warhawk 2". There was something nice about having no campaign, and only the barest hint of a backstory.

We get it already, Pachter: You're one part "analyst", and nine parts MS cheerleader. Can't have any press out there about the PS3 (e.g. worldwide install base) for more than a day without trotting out Pachter again. Yawn.

Still a multi-platform title, right? Even though it keeps getting posted to N4G as "XBOX360".

Maybe that's "in-credible", as in "not credible"? Fable DLC tho, that's beyond hardcore.

Anybody want to start up a legal "offense" fund, donating to Sony to fry this little pr1k? I'm in for $50.

Sounds like daddy's lawyers explained to Georgie that his pathetic little video was exactly the wrong way to go.
