"The future is streaming. There's no market for UHDBR. Consoles are all about gaming."
2005 called, and wants Microsoft's argument back. And streaming still has the basic technical and logical drawbacks that it did a decade ago. I can state definitively that Sony lost one sale with this decision. Sure, I'm only one person, but I'm also an owner of PS1 thru PS4, and in the market for a UHDBR player. I will instead just keep the PS4 and buy a d...
Matchmaking still braindead & broken...
And for non-ranked matches they still REFUSE to fix matchmaking. The latest patch actually made it WORSE. Now I get thrown into games that are instantly forfeited, where I don't even appear as a player. That's a brand new annoyance, in addition to the others that would seem so easy to fix if anyone gave a sh*t. STOP repeatedly throwing me into 7-0 matches with a minute left; penalize the quitters, not everyone else that simply wants to play a full game. STOP throwing me back int...
Oh no, a company may bring out an improved version of a product. Those bastards. Or: entitled spoiled whiners need to grow up.
You are a bigger idiot, so there. People wouldn't quit as often if (a) they could get onto a match at the beginning, (b) brain-dead 1vs3 matchmaking was eliminated. If you're content to play nothing but partial blowout matches, knock yourself out. Quitting should be discouraged by penalizing the quitters - maybe a 5 minute timeout, fine with me - NOT by penalizing everyone else trying to find a match. Boom.
Fix the damn matchmaking! Stop pairing me with 2 AI vs. 3 humans. Stop dropping me into a 7-0 rout with a minute left. Stop putting me into that same server when I quit.
Great game but it still takes forever to find a fair game from the beginning.
"Most promising" is exactly why it failed. They made lots of wild promises for it that it was never going to keep. The article does a good job of summarizing many of the exact points some of us were making from the very beginning, which anyone with even basic technical knowledge should've seen.
Now just replace with "cloud", rinse and repeat.
Better translation: "Won't SOMEBODY make a game for our system, pleeeze?!"
When did NPD start providing data for the UK? Can anyone point to a source for UK numbers, besides MS? Perhaps I've been around MS press releases too long, but I wouldn't put it past them to have lost the UK by 399,000, yet still claim a "combined" victory. Or throw something out there to create a desired impression, only to come out later with a clarification of what they "really" meant.
Not that it matters much, but in the absence of objective...
Atari is still a thing?
...which is basically a LBP knock-off.
Agreed. But I don't like FPS, or online games, or retro arcade games, or adventure games, or driving games, or sports games, or indie games, or third-person shadow control games. In fact, I only play furry yaoi fourth-person cooking simulators, and there is NOTHING on PS4. I can't even play pick-up-blowing-papers now. Great :(
Decided I should time it: 250s and 29s, respectively, on a PS3 (Day 1 Phat).
Sweet. Judging from memory, 3D Prometheus loads a lot faster than PS3. About 80 seconds from insert to the disc menu, past the FBI warning, etc. Another 20 seconds from Play to movie start. Lovin' it.
"it only took me an hour or so to get through all the Russian story missions"
I call BS on that. Even if you're attempting to sprint thru the levels as fast as you can, taking no note of anything, I still call BS on that. Even if you played all the levels thru several times and memorized them first, then replayed them as fast as possible for a cash reward, I still call BS on that. Even if your mom was in the hospital and her life depended on...
Perhaps because: if it was that easy, then why didn't they do that in the first place? Nothing is free, including a task-switching ("bounce") approach. There will be increased latency at the very least. At worst, you're going to end up with players having a different experience - better performance, better graphics, less latency - depending on whether or not they Kinect. Certainly not fair for any online game, as it undermines the whole concept of a gaming "platform...
That's an awesome idea. Maybe call it "Zune".
So wait:
"We didn't really think about MP3 or CD. We thought 'we're going to do that eventually.'"
Equals:
"We promise MP3, CD, DLNA, 3D BluRay, and all other media support within four months after launch."
The definition of "promise" seems to have shifted over the years.
Anybody have a link to this promise? I can't remember how it was worded, exactly.
That.
They're sure as h3ll not in a hurry to fix matchmaking either. Seriously, they've had TWO YEARS and still don't have a clue; every new patch just makes it worse. Hey Psyonix, spend a little less time on DLC and fix the basic game first. You should seriously bring in some outside help, since your internal staff clearly has no idea how to do matchmaking. Or maybe even do some basic testing on the live online environment, BEFORE you release a crap update. But hey, at least there...
