Yeah, this is getting pathetic. Literally every day now someone has to scour the globe to find a piece of anti-BD spin, and it gets approved on N4G (or, I guess, N4HDVF: News for HD Video Formats).

No disrespect to the Fins, but is that where we have to go now to find "bad" news for BD? And if sales in Finland pick up next month, we're off to, where, Zimbabwe?

It's more correct to say a "decrease" in revenue - you don't lose revenue. You can have a decrease in revenue, compared to the previous year, and still make a profit.

Actually, Milo knew exactly where he wanted to fast-forward to, and did it automatically! All you're gonna have to do is wave your arm, or ask Milo, & it'll be incredible - like you're actually IN the Hi-Def movie!

"...Project Natal will have games to play at launch..."

Holy crap! This has been confirmed?!?

Holy sheet, the d0ucheb@g actually replied to my email. I sent him a reply via the Street website - basically the same thing I wrote in comment #9 above (minus the haircut comment). Check out the logical, thoroughly reasoned argument he makes in response:

I think you missed spiky's point. And that is that if anyone got ripped off, it was the HD-DVD purchaser, who's now saddled with an expensive, essentially useless device.

There does seem to be a double standard out there. The Sony-backed BD format continues to attract a lot of hate, in spite of its apparent success with customers. And Microsoft gets essentially a free pass for saddling people with the HD-DVD add-on, which was apparently never anything more than a late, cynical...

Hahaha, what a monumental d0ucheb@g.

The only actual facts he quotes sound like a ringing endorsement for Blu-ray:

"...HDTV owners preferred discs over video streaming and downloads by nearly 10 to 1. Nearly 50 million Blu-ray discs have been sold worldwide, with Blu-ray's growth outpacing DVDs by almost 10 million discs at the same point in its lifespan..."

"...companies and their customers also lack the bandwith (sic) and storage space t...

You can LOL all you want, and you can continue to duck away from your own absurd statements and attempt to change the issue, as that's what generally happens in these non-productive rant-fests.

1. Then you have little understanding of what it means to be an enlightened human being. What happens when it's YOUR kid, growing up in a household where the clear message is that he/she is "abnormal" or "wrong" for the way they are? I hope, in that case, your kid do...

Since everyone seems intent on making this a lengthy social/moral debate, let's grasp it as a teaching opportunity.

1. Teaching a child to embrace the diversity of life, not just in humans but throughout the animal kingdom, where homosexual behavior also exists, will result in more children growing up enlightened. Teaching bigotry and willful ignorance to impressionable children means they'll be more likely to be bigoted and ignorant their entire lives.

So in other words, promiscuity carries certain risks, and people who have AIDS are more susceptible to other diseases because of a weakened immune system.

But of course, you attempt to twist these facts into an anti-gay statement. Or do you not even realize yourself that that's the very nature of discrimination, bigotry, and ignorance?

Why didn't you say instead that a promiscuous "lifestyle is bad for society in general"? Why don't you cite the many hete...

If ever I start to get the impression that the human race is showing faint signs of progressing, I need only check online discussions like this to bring me back to reality.

Back on topic (not that anyone else around here bothers with actually sticking to a topic, ever): the article was poorly written, and didn't seem to have a clear point.

I love all the comments like "Play one game at a time, then load the next one, stupid!"

Exactly. Just like you should only listen to ONE song at a time on your iPod, then load the next one. I mean, it's not like you can listen to more than ONE song at a time - sheesh!

Oops, gotta go, I have to pop out to the store and buy another piece of bread.

Fair enough - so you're not responding to the actual article, but the ensuing comments that have predictably become yet another flame war having nothing to do with the original topic.

Great, like N4G really needs more of that.

If you're quite aware that each service has features that the other lacks, then by your own statement: "Until XBL matches PSN feature for feature, and SURPASSES them, then XBL is not better than PSN".

XBL simply has feat...

"PSN DOES NOT match XBL feature for feature..."

That's not the issue, Dumas. Man, is anyone visiting N4G even capable of reading anymore?

Eric Lempel said NOTHING about a feature-for-feature match, and HHG clearly didn't understand (or perhaps didn't even read) what he was labeling as "obviously not true".

Here's a TRUE statement for you: XBL does not match PSN feature for feature.

What do you think about that? PSN h...

Wow, the moron factor is thru the roof on this one.

Everybody wants to morph this into the same old argument of which online service is better, or what features are useless/awesome.

The simple fact is that HHG made himself look idiotic by claiming Lempel's statement is not true. What Lempel said is, in fact, demonstrably true: PSN does SOME things that are beyond what XBL does. Period.

"Eric Lempel of Sony says that they are not playing catch up and in some respects they are doing more than Xboxlive which is obviously not true".

Some respects:

1. Home - social & casual game space that has no equivalent on XBL.

2. Folding@Home, Life with Playstation have no equivalent on XBL.

3. "Full" game downloads not possible on XBL.

4. User generated content, like LBP levels, that has no equiv...

So, in other words, the "brief window" that Blu-ray has will be roughly equal to the entire time that DVD has had on the market. I'm sure all members of the BDA will by crying all the way to the bank. LOL at this constant stream of articles trying to paint BD as anything other than a success.

Nice post; now, can you explain what the poorly-worded title of this article is trying to say, exactly?

How about: Because I'm not an eight year old girl.

And what exactly is the reason that consumers will have to buy a WiiHD? Ummm....

Yeah, I know, this sorta crap is hardly worthy of a comment; just another day on N4G.

Holy Toledo! If they only release 3.0 with one feature, please let it be the multiple audio outputs. I would be a very happy camper to have this option.
