The reason Dead Island 2 is in limbo is because the team behind the first one moved on to dev Dying Light 1/2. They can't seem to find a dev team that can handle the Dead Island 2 project, as it has been passed around worse then one of my old high school girl friends.

Maybe in numerical value they are a Gen ahead, but power wise they are behind a Gen. Which Nintendo is right to worry about. They are just now seeing good 3rd party support. When the next gen hits, this could begin to dry up. They already have to dull games down to get them to run on the switch. Another leap in graphics and computational power could prove to be too much for the switch.
If I have to kill my res and cut my fps just for ray tracing, then I do not care if these cards support it. I've grown quite fond of 4k/60fps and am certainly not going back to 1080p/30fps for ray tracing. Also, it is foolish to think the next gen consoles are going to do full on ray tracing. When have you ever seen a developer escape from a publisher with its ip intact? If it has happen, it wasn't an ip as big as Destiny. It may have been speculated all these years that publishers are the bad apples, but til now we have not had case like Bungie/Destiny to examine for proof.

1. When a game is revealed for the first time, it's the graphics that catch your eye first. If you only look at the game for a moment to check out the gameplay, it's the graphics that pulled you there. Publishers know this, tis why cut scenes and trailers are made to look their best.

Right now Sony has the better track record in that department. MS needs to hit it out of the park every chance they get.
