Developers with the ideas and funding will push games further and further. Gamers see this and become accustomed to it, and they expect more and more. It's not a bad thing, but people should remember that even old classics, games that defined generations should all be enjoyable at any point of gaming history. Sure, text-based adventures can be an exception, they're not really visual at all, and can be a turn off nowadays, but when you get into some NES, SNES era games, from there and beyond, ...

I think as soon as they get all that Gamestop business out of the way, and the industry makes a bit more from used sales, it'll be fine. NOt that there's a whole lot wrong anyway.

If I'm paying upwards of $50.00 I expect it to be tangible. No way am I dishing out that much money per game, and have to abide by a company's BS policy if I ever lose my proof of purchase/account expiry or something ridiculous like that.

I want it in my hand, I'll always want my games in m...

^ My guess is that the XBL subscribers don't pay them enough.

I don't think MS would be in the console business if it stayed with Apple. I think PC gaming would be much better, and the console market wouldn't be as flooded with fps's.

The original red faction > than any game with destructible environments.

Until I can dig tunnels almost whenever i want, I'll stand by that. Breaking structures/walls gets old fast. Tunnel digging in Multiplayer never gets old. Especially with AI units that use them to schwump you.

Gears2 looked fine. Mainly because you were always at a distance, but still, wouldn't be fair to call it sh*t. Uncharted has prettier cut scenes for sure though. Thing about non-playable cut scenes is that they may use the engine, but much like CG animation, you don't have to render what's not in the scene, meaning that you can cut corners and replace the actual models for nicer ones for non-playable scenes. Same goes for environments as well. Easier on rendering, and easier on the engine I w...

Old Quake as in 3 (arena)? Too fast for Quake, more like Unreal. Similar all around IMO. Quake2 is still one of my favorite fps's ever. Wicked Background music and sounds had me sold early.

QL is great for what it is though! Nice multiplayer setup as well.

I had a fun time playing this when it released. Felt more like UT though.

It was overused this gen, for sure. But it worked well enough. Too much of one thing is always just that though. Too much.

Your commentaries are intriguing to say the least.

Please!

You'll have to write a handbook on PS3 fanboys someday and post it on here. Stuff like their diets, habitats, what they perceive as threats, any magical weak points, preferred game genres, social insurance numbers, all that good stuff! They're a terrible breed, and they must all be put to rest. Those-- *shudders* PS3 fanboys have been gaming far too long and have taken up refuge on the forums because of their...

The horror genre of games will benefit greatly from this 3d tech they're going to be implementing! Monsters popping out at you and stuff! Oh! Cannot wait!

I found the latest iteration of the engine "good enough" for the games it ran. Perhaps maybe some pop-in issues here and there could be fixed, but I'm sure they'll iron that out.

I'm personally really excited to see how much they'd evolved it. I remember seeing the Gears2 tech demo a while back and they demoed some cool stuff like the meat cube and stuff. I wonder if they'll feature Gears related stuff as tech demo material? Can't wait!

It's obvious that as the price starts to come down people really eat it up.

Having places like Best Buy and Amazon put on great deals every so often could be a reason why Sony isn't committed to dropping the retail prices yet. Let the retailers drop the prices for them, and watch the people gobble it up like it's candy. If more sales were offered by retailers, it could be a very long time before Sony actually drops the price. The system sells fine as is, and Sony probably needs ...

At the time of typing that, I had a link on my first post, exactly three comments above other one. It was a pointer to take a peek, that's all.

I think the lightning and particle effects are kz's strong points. The textures honestly don't seem to be very high res, but the thing still manages to look gorgeous. Not like some other games where everything looks like it's soaked and loads in at least 10 layers of pop-ins in front of you. They cut some corners in the texture department and it still looks amazing.

They'd be smart to fork over some cash to EA, for the rights to the next BLACK. Now THAT would be something. BLACK running on KZ2's engine? I'm getting excited just thinking about that impossible situation.
