Adding features is not a bad thing. But Sony just keep on palling PR disasters one after another. So even if something positive announced, this cannot undo their pervious disasters.
In WiiU era, Nintendo ONLY HAD THEIR 1st PARTY EXCLUSIVE. There was next to 0 major 3rd party support from the 3rd birthday of WiiU. At the end even Nintendo realized that they cannot survive just by their own exclusive. So they tries very hard to get as many 3rd party support, big & small, now in the Switch era. I feel that PS5 is heading to that 1st-party-exclusive-only territory now.
Yeah, I guess those same customers that insist to own physical copies of game have bought EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE TV SHOWS & MOVIES THAT THEY WATCH, in physical copies.
I think this Sony plan, just like the XBoxOne Cable PassThru function, will only work in US. I guess PS+ subscripters outside of US may not be able to enjoy this function.
Haven't touch a baseball game in a very very long time. Downloading it right now. Want to show my support of the Xbox version.
@JEECE A better example is Nintendo. In the WiiU era, Nintendo ONLY had their 1st party exclusive & nothing else. They need to cut short the WiiU live & start the Switch generation earlier then usual. Nintendo then needed to put in extra effect to convince 3rd party developers, big & small, to support this new console. It seems like PS5 is heading to that same direction.....
The truth is, Sony itself throw out the trash for us the public to talk about. Shouldn't Sony put all of their corporate effects into the PS5 now. Why do Sony assumed that there would be no backlash on the closure of Stores & "Re-structuring" of Japan Studio now? Even if those cuts are commercially logical, can't Sony wait a couple more years, after PS5 transition is stabilized?
According to a lot of reports in the last 6 months, it is the heat from the internal SSD expansion slot that is keeping Sony from "certify" any existing SSD for that internal slot.
Luckily I haven't encounter many issue so far (on SeriesS).
This is a very Japanese way of gaming. In Japan, player are supposed to have some kind of printed tip/ walk thru beside them when playing games.
Bad timing for Sony. They make this PR mess for themselves. Why can't Sony just focus on the PS5 right now, & do these other controversial things a couple years later.
@KnightedHollow Your list of Sony "up-coming" exclusives also don't have a solid release date.
I think the right question is: Does Sony want to do this in the 1st place?
No, I don't think this will happen, ever. The last time Nintendo ever collaborate their hardware with another company was N64!!!!
@bacz149 If there is not a single SSD/ memory manufacturer can meet Sony's standard, it maybe, just maybe, the standard itself that is the issue? Also, Sony players should not excuse Sony of not letting you guys to backup PS5 games onto your USB external HDD, 5 months after launch.
We don't trash-talk on your PS exclusive. We don't trash-talk on Sony's monopoly on IP like SpiderMan. If an exclusive game is good (like Horizon Zero Down or Spider Man), it is good.
I think there is a big difference between a single-player vs multi-player disaster. Multi-player games developer/publisher has only a single month of window for successful. If that game is not successful at their 1st month of release, that game is doomed. For single player game, like Cyberpunk, it can be patched, improved, re-make, for years to come. 2-5 years from now people may still buy that game. Even EA now accept this reality & allow Dragon Age 4 to be a strictly single-player game....
This is call out-sourcing. As a lot of you said, Jade Raymond hasn't been very successful on game development for the last couple of years. By "out-sourcing" to Ms Raymond's company instead of hiring her, Sony is minimizing the risk if the project fail.
You are talking about Disney, right? Or WB, Or Netflix, or Sony? My point is, what MS is doing is no different from other giant media corporations.
@Redemption-64 Yeah, there are a lot of Sony players that are against the big-budget remake of your beloved AAA game that is The Last Of Us Remake.
