At the end it is us the consumers that decide which innovation we will pay to buy. Wii remote & Wii Board are the kind of innovations that we decide to pay for; while others like 3DTV, even thou which is much technically advance then Wii remote, we the customer decide not to buy. So between an innovation that a lot of people hate, & the sales of Xbone, MS is right to listen to us the consumer.
If MS doesn't make this U-Turn, XBoxOne will face a huge legal challenge in a lot of countries on privacy issue, like Germany or US itself. MS may not even able to sell XBoxOne in Europe. This will cost MS even more then the R&D cost of Kinect.
I think this is not just a PSV issue. Outside of Japan, handheld game machines are all but gone. I live in Hong Kong. A few years ago, a lot of people held either a PSP or 3DS in subway. Now those are replaced by iPhone or Samsung phones.
It seems that MS is dead-set to Kill his only child. Maybe they are thinking of driving up the sales of PS4, then buy it from Sony?!!!!!!!

MS has learnt may hard lessons on “sticking-to-MS-vision” strategy. The result is a sharp decline in their market share & revenue in the OS & Mobile markets. So, I think they finally learn that they must listen to their customer!
It seems MS is dead set to replete EVERY SINGLE MISTAKE PS3 has made when it was launch.

No, it seems that MS is ACTIVELY getting out of game industry, trying hard to get into a dieing industry of TV.
XBox One is the combination of all things wrong in Game/Entertainment! MS is making all the same mistakes Sony has done with the lunch of PS3.
It seems like both MS & Sony are ashamed of their new hardware. They hardly tell us about the hardware. Up to now, they can't name a good reason why we customers "want" to buy a new hardware. If I can play my favorite games in my current XBox, why do I "want" to buy a now one, or PS4 for that matter?
Type-0 was released in Japan. But there is just silence, both in gamer's reaction & gaming press. It is as if Type-0 doesn't exist.

I'm a 360 fanboy, but I have to say that Kinect will fail outside US, due to the SPACE requirement! It need around 2 meter to function. Players who live in cities like New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, etc do not have such luxury on such space!!!.
Like myself. My living room is less than 3 meter wide. Add in my wife, baby, my mother running round all day! You see I will never have 2 meter play space all by myself for a second. So player like me will never buy Kinect.
This show that both movie & game industries are mature, & recognize the advantage & disvantage of the other. From the example how Warner Brother handle of Dark Knight (movie) & Batman: Arkham Asyslum (game), movie studios now see that it is better to put resources into a deciate game, instead of wasting on a movie-tie-in.
My biggest complain for ME2 is NO Loot, minimal personal upgrade/ power. Essentially, ME2 is a TPS with RPG element. Just like FFXIII, why take away parts that I don't think anyone complain??? (FFXIII-no town; ME2-no looting)??
In such a close time frame, there are already 2 similar games. I don't think gamer will want to play YET another 3rd person action game, let alone to compete with GoWIII on PS3 side.
No game should be made into movie, and vice versa!!!!!!
