Other story-driven games like BOTW, AC: Origin, etc, they did not take away player control within a fight sequence or a precise jump.
But.... it seems to me that the player's control is always interrupted by pre-render sequence far too often, in the middle of the action. Like that big fight with the raiders. I feel like that the game always interrupted the player's control.
The issue with 5 was that the Rookie was not even a 2 dimensional character. They are just one dimensional, i.e. a dot, a cursor in the screen.
@HOLDERofFOOD Agreed!!! It is not the gender. It is the stories that are not written specific for a specific story character that is the issue. Just compare Ubi games with, say Mass Effect (who isn't play the Legendary Edition now!). Even thou we can played as either male or female, both Shepard are a well defined character. All the stories are written anticipating both possibility. So both characters never feel bland.
In Far Cry 5, we the player was just a walking gun, cannot even be consider as a character.
Exactly!!!!! All of their side missions are now as generic, bland as possible. All the stories are now about ANYONE OTHER THEN ME THE PROTAGONIST. Just compare AC Origin & Odyssey. In Origin, there is a fixed, pre-defined character Bayek. So the writers could write the main story, side missions, all around him; as a man, a father. All those missions felt more personal, more emotional. In Odyssey, the main story & side missions were bland & generic, since the writers needed to acco...
The issue with Far Cry 5, indeed the Ubi games from the last 5 years, is not the moment-to-moment actions. It the the bland main protagonist used in a story-driven game. All the killing, destruction, etc in the lastest Far Cry, AC, Watch Dog, are all just that, action. In the old Ubi games, the pre-defined main protagonist gave substance, meaning to those same actions.
That's why we should not cherry-pick just one single positive (or negative) review & believe that whole hearty. Even some great game will get 1 or 2 negative reviews, & visa versa. Gamers should take multiple reviews & get the general consent.
the beginning 1/3 part, with mostly earthly setup are really generic. It opens up when it shift to alien environments & story does it really start to get interesting.
It really get interest after 1/3 of the game. the beginning 1/3 part are very generic. It is after it gets to the really alien part does the game getting better & better.
Spider-Man licenses to Sony is not just about game. It includes the whole IP within the Spider-Man comic. That was the time when Marvel almost bankrupted. The deal was not about quality (of both movie or game), it was about MONEY. Pure and simple.
Why is this quote remind me the Joker "You Complete Me"?.......
@jukins PS is just as lacking as XBox on this front. Yeah, you will have 12 1st party & 13 3rd party with no name, will be released in the unspecified future. Also, known games like Horizon & GoW do not have a concrete release date, just "when it's done, it's done" time frame.
@chiefJohn117 Beside Returnal, Ratchet & Clank, all other PS5 games exclusives so far are cross-gen games. In this respect, Xbox isn't that far behind. We have Medium. 2 vs 1 :)
What catastrophic are you talking about? Xbox is lacking in the exclusive front, we agree. Sony ONLY has your exclusive. I've read a lot of comments, after finishing exclusives in Spider Man, Demon Soule, etc. Sony players are always waiting for the next big exclusive. There is nothing to play in between. Also, Xbox OS is much more player-centric. Features like quick-resume, smart delivery, cloud save, stable external storage support, etc are all unavailable to PS5 at the moment. Also, fo...
This one is very fun.
@Aquafiniac The points you mentioned are all about the game design. if a game is boring to the point that you need a bot to do the grinding or "boring side quest" than it will be the problem of the game. If the player does not enjoy those parts, why bother to get that game in the first place?
Isn't this already exist in PC & mobile games? If game bot can play all by itself, what's the point of even playing?????
OK...... grad that I haven't bought the Crysis Remaster yet.
