Well, we're obviously going to continue disagreeing on some points and I'm almost out of bubbles.
Personally, and I suspect like a lot of people, I don't agree or disagree with everything she says. But a lot of it is interesting, and a good point to start discussion. However, according to this blog we should shut down all talk of it completely. Surely that is more damaging than anything she's said.

As to your point about her giving alternatives. That&#...

Just like to say, the amount of vitriol you hold for a person, who I'm assuming you've never met, never will and has zero influence on your day to day life, is pathetic.
And it's people with a similar attitude who've been targeting her, her family, friends and colleagues with bs for the last 5 months who are a heck of a lot more responsible in her still being relevant than some tin-foil hat conspiracy about media agendas.

Okay, listen: do you understand what a trope is? a cliche?
Rather than 'women shouldn't look like this', the argument is 'women shouldn't look like this all the time'. As you say, not every women is the same. So, doesn't it follow that while some may love Bayonetta, there are also going to be plenty who don't. The latter though, isn't as well catered for within gaming, because developers stick to going back to the same old well.

As you say, it's not prerequisite (though there's plenty of evidence to suggest she's more than versed in the medium.)
She won the ambassador award because she was voted for it by industry veterans of the like of Mark Cerny. You can't argue they don't have 'gamer cred.'

A few points:
1. I still don't get why people critiquing a game from a feminist point of view is so offensive. People do critique games from a racism pov (most notably in games like RE5 or Bioshock infinite) and I'm sure if someone felt strongly enough, they might do the same with regards species - how useful, relevant or worthwhile that'd be is questionable, but if they wanted to and had people interested in it then what's the issue?

2. "Games ar...

Maybe if there were more games that featured a female lead, the fact that a game has one wouldn't be notable.
And, if publishers are forcing devs to compromise there vision by taking the 'safe' option and pander to the traditional stereotype then it's not going to change soon.

Dontnod is just a developer. They need a publisher to get the game out into stores (and also provide funding).
So, as they're going round trying to get a publisher, some of those they saw suggested making those changes before they'd consider backing the game.

The only problem is, they all tend to be games that need hundreds of hours to get the most out of them. And then they add in DLC which is usually disposable but you just can't help buying some of it anyway because you feel they deserve your support even though you know you might not get round to using it...

@Postedup.
You can start with any of them. There's a few things that link them, but it wont hurt your enjoyment playing out of sequence. (Though, D2 is a ...

Well, it was a publicity stunt raised by workers in the sex industry worried that the depiction of people in their line of work by GTA was that of disposable, dumb, sub-humans who don't deserve to be treated as normal members of society.

Reading the comment above yours, I'm not sure where they got that idea from...

"The goal is to establish a new form, or to correct the current form, of gaming media to where cases of nepotism and corruption are taken out of it."

- So far, the answer appears to be either get sites to make some sort of ethical policy statement (which is wholy unaccountable, and worth about as much as the internet paper it's not printed on) or to support enthusiast bloggers and youtubers (who have even less accountability)

"Developers an...

At the risk of veering even further from the topic, who the f*** suggested sitting on a urinal?!
The story was about taking out urinals and everyone using standard toilets. And I'd already suggested reasons as to why it was dumb.

But, back to your other points:
A journalist or editor being an SJW is not unethical, no matter how you cut it.
There's never been a requirement for most news outlet not to display political bias. I...

@rainslacker
Why?
If a reviewer has a problem with something in a game, something which they believe their readers may also be concerned about, wouldn't it be negligent, and worse, not to mention it?

E.g the Bayonetta 2 review on Polygon. The site has already an established it has a certain stance on social issues. It's grown an audience based on it. Would it not follow that its core audience would be expecting the reviewer to mention their concerns? ...

@deadpool616
And, again, that's due to hygiene concerns rather than some sort of emasculating gesture.
It's also been pointed out to be rather pointless as;
a. we tend to make the most mess when 'finishing off'.
b. in a cubicle nobody can tell if you're sitting down, standing up or doing a handstand on the cistern.

AAA developers are pressured to fit all sorts of agendas;
the 'make us as much money as possible' agenda,
the 'do what you need to make this work' agenda,
the 'we had a feedback that people like/don't like this bit so change it' agenda,
the 'this other game has this and people like it, so we should have it too' agenda,
etc.

The 'a handful of bloggers think this so we should change the entire dev...

It's amazing. Didn't know about the Swedish flag thing, so I googled it.
And, funnily enough, it's not quite what is described above.
Basically, the principal of ONE primary school has temporarily banned the flag because some students were using it provocatively to incite hatred. It may be a bit heavy handed, but it's one school, not a nation wide ban.
If anything the principal is trying to preserve the integrity of their flag, unlike here in England wh...

You ought to tell Nintendo that it's pointless trying to pander to those demographics.
I wonder if it was the profits from things like Wii-fit, sports, animal crossing, etc, which helped finance Bayonetta 2?

And there it is.
Why bother with the facade of ethics in games journalism when we all know all you're actually bothered about is them pesky SJWs taking your games.

And yet again, 'gamers' react to surveys like this with, 'but they're not playing the right games', and completely missing the point.
Taking out the equality/feminist angle and talking pure money, you're talking about a potentially massive market if you can get the right products out there, or just tweak existing products so they're more inclusive.

Personally, I started gaming about 30 years ago on things like Game and watch. And games like...
