Maybe it's not that nobody cared when those threats were made - we know about them, therefore there must have been some coverage about them.
Maybe it's because most people agreed they were bad things. So, rather than trying to claim they were attention whores, asking the FBI to confirm the threats and other manner of BS, the stories faded away much sooner.

So, I assume Jimmys' response is based on;
a, the behaviour of those editing the page.
b, the behaviour of those arguing about the editing of the page.
c, the responses of a and b.
d, the 'feedback' directed at him and his team throughout the process.
e, reading an article about GG on pretty much any site on the entire internet other than the handful that pedal the thinly veiled bs.
f, possessing the ability of critical thinking.

SJW - "These games need more representation for these sections of society"
GG - "Stop trying to censor our games. Go and make your own if you're that bothered"
SJW - "Hey, we've made our own games and some folks really like them"
GG - "Shut up, they don't count as 'real' games. Now get out of here."
SJW - "But, we've been here from the start..."

I think you'll find most places are 'biased against gamergate', including the wiki page on it;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
(along with it's co-founder Jimmy Wales)...

4065d ago 0 agree4 disagreeView comment

They are as unbiased as they need to be. If you have a decent argument against something there and relevant stuff to back it up with, you wont get banned.
If all you do is throw out accusations or assertions based on nothing but theories pulled out of the air, then you're going to get pulled up on it.

Besides, the Gaf post basically is just a good source for a selection of articles that give a solid basis on what has happened.

This Gaf post gives you a pretty decent rundown of what's actually happened (as opposed to what's been alleged);

How can she make a game if you're saying she's got to stay out of the industry?

If EA/DICE were using her to help make a game then isn't that up to them? If you want games that fit your non-femenist agenda then why don't you open a business, hire a team and make the game you want to make... possibly with blackjack, and hookers.

Psst. Erm, some of you do know Anita isn't the only person on the planet who has opinions, right?
You do realise that the first Mirrors edge had strong female representation ? And maybe the reason she was invited to DICE to give a talk was because there are people there who already have similar opinions ?

If people are listening to her, it's because some of the things she says make sense to them. I'd suggest if you think she's wrong, then you try and c...

About 2 years ago she visited DICE and gave a talk. Someone decided to make a blog post about it, alleging she was now working on the game.
It had already been shot down several times;

but some folks decided they still needed it as a stick to beat her with.
You'd think people apparently obsessed with ethics, 'the tru...

The stores have no obligation to cater to gamers. They can stock whatever they want. If they feel like removing an item from sale, it's entirely up to them. At the end of the day, the people that make the decisions have decided that those customers who object to GTA are more important to them than those that don't (Either they want the store to project a certain image and/or it's just down to how much money each group spends).
Either way, gamers in Australia can still buy...

Can Aussies still legally buy and play GTA V ? Yes ? Then it isn't 'banned'.

Some consumers have 'revolted' and caused some stores to alter their policy. Forgive me, but hasn't this been Gamergates cover story - that it's consumers taking action because of something they object to.

Well, technically, you're agreeing with some of the posters on neogaf. You're disagreeing with some of them too. Because in that thread were several different opinions about the char. both negative and positive - just like here, because, funnily enough, it's a forum and that's what tends to happen.
There was no petition, no gathering of pitchforks, just a selection of people responding to a video game char reveal.

4075d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

I get the impression he's probably trolling, but if developers feel obliged to tailor content of a game based on a selection of youtube and neogaf comments then maybe they need to go back to the drawing board and work a more defined vision of what they actually want to produce.
I love that the article tries to pull this back to GG (because comments on a forum equate to 'ethics in journalism').

@CaptainObvious878
Maybe you don't see any misogyny because either you're so quick to dismiss it as a shaming tactic or the victim knows they'll be forced to jump through so many hoops to prove it they keep quiet.
Or maybe, everything is fine where you are - that's nice, but the video game industry is a big, spurious beast. Just because all seems ok in certain areas doesn't mean there's not a problem in others.

GTA hasn't been banned in Australia. It's been removed from Target (and I believe K-mart ?) due to complaints from customers - that its portrayal of women and those in the sex industry in particular is very poor.
I don't think anyone has been arguing that the violence itself that's the problem, more that the game perpetuates the stereotype that women (in particular those in the sex industry) are just tools for men to do with as they please.
Right or wrong, Its ...

I didn't say they've been one of the biggest for all that time, more that to suggest they are there now is only due to one franchise is a little myopic.
Ass creed might be a sales juggernaut for them, but JD has certainly helped with about 30 million sales as well (plus dlc). It might not be your cup of tea, or a traditional 'gamers' game, but you can't deny it's been good for them.

4083d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Come on, as if Ubisoft would be anywhere near the third biggest publisher in the world if they hadn't lucked in there with Assassins creed.

Its not like they've been around for nearly 30 years, producing games and franchises like Rayman, Splinter cell, Ghost recon, Rainbow six, Prince of persia, Far cry, Just dance... oh.

I'd suggest it's not any accusation of sexism that got this pulled, but more it's pis*-poor.
It might have worked if it had been played either more subtly or maybe a knowing, 'carry-on' style, but this just came out as tedious and lazy.

It's kind of irrelevant trying to compare them by metacritic scores as most sites generally only review one format for each game;
e.g.
Shadow of mordor has 80 reviews for PS4, but just 11 for Xbox.
