I've always found GAME to be as good as anyone (in the UK, who is there?).
Pre-ordered I don't know how much from them online and never had any hassle, if anything the opposite - most of the time in turns up a day or two early as well.
It most likely is a placeholder date, but why would they announce the date at E3? There's surely not a lot of people who'd put a specific date out for a big title so far out for fear of it slipping (GTA IV tattoo style).
As for the actual date, well if it links with the PSP edition then why wouldn't you want both out on the market as close as possible.
Both the new and old designs have the flicking the V sign. The old one having the other two fingers chewed off seems to be the problem.
And if someone flicking v's on a cover was that big a problem in the UK someone ought to have whipped copies of Ken Loachs' 'Kes' off the shelves years ago.
If i remember rightly, only a chunk of western Europe actually got it, and there's a problem with the French version which stopped that going up just yet.
Ad on youtube for the trailer has the date, ONLY a 360 box, no mention of Activision and, as we already know, the Call of Duty part has been dropped....

Firstly, there's the assumption that's it was created first and foremost for our benefit. I'm sure Black Rock and other such developers have publishers they need to convince about the sort of game they are going to make and a picture paints a thousand words, etc.
Getting it out to the outside world can also garner a bit of feedback before too much money is spent.
that's pretty much the first thing i think of when i hear/see such stories.
Even if they did have some plan to later on release DL PS2 games, there's a lot of PS2 users out there at the minute, thinking about upgrading and the lack of BC is putting them off buying the console altogether.

They either stipulate '..on elite difficulty' or the times, etc you need to achieve are of that level or higher.

Only in the big games on PS3 is there a drought and that's going to have as much to do with development times (and the PS3 being the more tricky to get best out of) than some great conspiracy.
The mags i used to read always seemed to have a 90% game of the month and a couple of 80%'s, but Edge has always been the same (I'm 34 if it helps)
But, the thing i like about Edge reviews is that they're so well written. You may disagree with a review, but you do get a good idea of what the reviewer thought was right/wrong with it, unlike some reviews where you get a list of moans and then, whap, 89%...???

It actually shows PS3 (and marginally 360) ahead of Wii for first couple of weeks of 2008 - which coincides with the Wii running low on stock in the run up to Xmas - so perfectly plausible.

We know they've had trouble with the servers. It could be connected to that.
Or it might be that the levels were 'broken' in some way.
Instead of blindly disagreeing, just point to one single place where it is confirmed that they are being pulled down for copyright issues?

Might make it easier to find if I don't pick it up straightaway - at least I should be able to download it from the store.
first one came out at the wrong time for my wallet, and it's been a pain in the ar*e trying to track down a copy (cheers Amazon) - it's no wonder sales for games like this, ICO, etc aren't brilliant when stores get in maybe one or two copies if any at all!
Personally, full digital downloads can't come soon enough.
