The fluke doesn't constitute the constant. When a developer has no previous experience with a genre of game, it's safe to assume that they won't be phenomenal It's only because this game is "playstation exclusive" is the reason that you people are hyping it up beyond belief.

No, they haven't. Aside from the release date of No Man's Sky and the rumored release date of PSVR, there is zero connection between the two. That won't stop people talking about amazing will be on this website, though.

I've put in several hundred hours into Elite: Dangerous. I can tell you what a shallow game is. No Man's Sky seems to be going down the same path, just they got procedural generation and planetary landing working properly.
Are you saying nobody used the PS2 upgrade? Plenty of people did. Not to mention it started to come standard with PS2s purchased after x date (I do not recall which date). I have fond memories of playing COD2 online on my PS2.
No, it's actually a game whose premise is perfect for a multiplayer/coop experience. Don't try to tell me that you didn't wish you could play those old space sims with some friends. I sure as hell did, and so far only Star Citizen is looking to offer that properly. Elite's execution is mediocre at best and this game isn't even offering it.
