I loved Starcraft on N64...even though it had its faults, and you could screen cheat, I had a lot of laughs with that with friends/family.
Can't do that anymore unless you are at a PC LAN party (or use System Link on 360 with Civ Rev). Over the net it's just not the same imo.
To be honest I don't know why more strategy games aren't on consoles: Halo Wars, Civilization Revolution, RUSE, and Endwar showed it can be done.
Maybe not as well as on PC, but I hate it when there is too much reliance on hot-keys, speed, and nimble fingers. What kind of strategy is that anyway?
Civilization Rev with turn based gameplay was my favourite!
Yes please, as long as it isn't an MMO!
Obsidian did this? After Alpha Protocol I didn't think they'd be able to do it. I mean how do you screw up a spy RPG? The locations weren't nearly as exotic as they should have been...and the gameplay...
Glad they bounced back with this one though.
Hmmm I didn't realise it was so hard to get to actually play the games at these things, which allow not just journos but public too.
I'm not sure I'm excited anymore by Gears of War. I really was surprised by the first one, but the second, though great, just didn't grab me as much.
Well it may be a better wiimote or not, but first there hopefully will be different kinds of games like Sorcery and second the Kinect games aren't that exciting yet either.
Like the review sort of says both the Kinect and MOVE haven't yet really got the software, just the potential.
Can't say the games on offer excite me much, but then the Kinect games don't either.
The comments about each game seem fair too, and consistent with what I've heard.
lol. Yeah you'd think so sometimes. If it's fair then that's okay. Same with PS site properly reviewing Xbox stuff without an 'agenda'.
This site is obviously an indie site and so doesn't care about loyalty issues.
I wonder how the Kinect will compare now...It'll be interesting to see how they review it.
The comments made were fair minded, so hopefully no fanboy will be jumping up and down.
Yeah multi these days rewards the really good (or those with a lot of time to get really good) and discourages those who just want to play for fun.
I miss Timesplitters.
LOL! Give reboot the boot! Original IPs? Too risky...so let's drag an old one out and 'reboot' it.
Still some seem very popular: Castlevania is the latest I think, and I'd love to see a Eternal Darkness reboot or sequel.
Always good to have multiple perspectives. I agree that some games that score 7 or 8 average on Metacritic etc. can often be really fun...more fun than some that score 9.
It just depends on your interest and if you like the genre and action, or single player or multi.
Maybe they knew, maybe not, but it would have been pretty naive to think that all people would see playing as the Taliban in a current conflict situation as the same as playing as the Germans in WW2 games.
While I agree that changing the name to Opposition Forces is just a change in name, they didn't start with that name or a fictional 'middle eastern country'. They must have known they would cop some attention (and any attention is good isn't it? Unless it ...
I think that it caters to those who would buy it despite the criticism (it has been selling well) but think it is too bad that it decided to go copycat the modern warfare trend and use 'Taliban' controversy to get attention.
I think I had enough Dead Rising in the first one. More of the same just doesn't inspire me and zombies are in everything lately!
And if the save system isn't fixed, then forget it!
I think it would be awesome to include or add: with bots. Yes there could be screen cheats, but with random NPCs killing anyone near them, there could still be big surprises..especially if you aren't paying attention to your own screen.
Besides the 360 has system link. Remember system link???
Lol...there's always the Russians...oh no wait...done to death too!
I think the article is from a comp so the arguments came from average every day gamers for a change.
Well they could have been a bit more 'subtle'. I mean if we are an intelligent lot (which we are) then they could have used the old Animal Farm method: Tell the story by using imaginary setting and groups.
Why bother upsetting anyone?
The two perspectives in the article are interesting: also the fact that one is US and the other comes from Oz. Both countries have troops that have died over there too.
I'd love to see Timesplitters released again! Especially with a level creator and offline mutli again too.
