An online only Battlefront wouldn't interest me or anyone in my family...A Gears Of War type mentality where people become online commandos, making casual multi players criticised for not following directions, would follow.
so I think they should aim for both audiences: those that want offline split-screen with bots and those that want online mayhem :)
With Force Unleashed they seemed keen on showing the new 'physics engine' that allowed force abilities. I didn't think the first one was that bad story-wise, but gameplay and feel wasn't as good as Battlefront! The second is apparently rubbish though.
I can't understand the reluctance to do Battlefront 3: it'd be a sure fire seller, even after LOTR: Conquest didn't rate so well, and done properly it would be really good too.

Again, from what I understand, the piracy issue is a different problem with the PS3 than with the others. Do a google and look up 'PS3 root key piracy'.
I'm not technical in the least, but from what I'm reading it seems this is a big deal for Sony. I hope not though; they are really hitting their stride.
They are talking about doing the PC cd key solution on the blu rays where you get 5 uses and then you can't use the game anymore.
That isn't great if you want to buy a used copy or sell one, as nobody will know if the copy's code has been used up or not.
Their other options are limited, from what I understand, unless they go to PS4.
Like I said earlier, I don't think Sony is going to just give up, but from what I understand a "root key leak" makes the console more vulnerable to piracy than standard forms of piracy that exist now?
I don't get the impression they are being fanboys, but projecting a 'possible reality' about Sony faltering and Sega stepping in. The real question is what are the 2009 patents all about?
I'd be surprised if Sony left the console battlefield after working so hard, and Sega would need some big titles or some fancy new gizmo to attract enough interest in one.
But I've often wondered is Sega was biding its time and as the author says, why bother with patents in 2009 that are so detailed if you aren't doing anything? Unless it's a new controller that you can use on other consoles lol.

If they are doing this with no pay that means no income and having to pay to do it...that's incredible. I want to see more new IPs from independents, but these games seem to get canned all the time.

I love the idea of these random dinos running around picking off those gamers who like to play as snipers!!! While they concentrate on their scopes to kill some guy on a jetpack, dino comes from behind and CHOMP!
Still, I'm more of a single player guy so I'd be more excited by the trilogy part.

Yeah I think the fanboys need to actually READ the conclusion of the review.
It is a game that 360 owners would probably have loved to have, but I wasn't aware there were so many barriers for indies doing stuff on 360...
I think some people might have legitimate reasons for quitting (toilet...wife walked in and is frowning...kids interrupting) but agree it is annoying.
I'd rather have less team based stuff and more focus on modes where you are on your own. At least with Timesplitters you could add a bot to fight by your side.
You are entitled to your opinion, but are games truly trying to be like real war? That's a strange argument, as the last thing I'd want to simulate is the true experience of war....
But you are right...I hate snipers because they kill from afar rather that by tracking me down and putting me down, which I respect more.

I'm the first to admit I'm not skilled at them, but I really don't think snipers add much to a game. Yes I know they are used in 'real' war, but closer combat is more fun online...not getting picked off by someone safely sitting somewhere camping with a sniper rifle...
But that's just me...
