Anyways, I'll download the demo after I'm done downloading the 360 demo. Just for kicks.
HL 2 had raised the bar like HL 1. I'm sure the lads from Valve can pull it off again with HL3.
The episodes weren't such a good idea imo. I always felt they needed to move on to HL3 even though EP1 and EP2 still turned out to be pretty damn solid.
That said, I seem to recall Valve stating that making a HL3 would cost too much development time, so that's why they changed the focus to delevoping episodes instead. I wonder what changed their minds on this now.
Wait...what?!
Seriously, this game must be causing some serious development issue's. If they say "not before April 2008 and no later than March 21 2009", and you take a look at those awfull screenshots they released today it's the only conclusion you can come to.
Strange really, it looked pretty damn solid last E3 so I was convinced it wouldn't release any later than Jan/Feb 2008. What the hell's going on here?
Welcome to my ignore list, little trol. ;)
Gold members have been complaining about only having the ability to play online games as an edge over the Silver memebers. Which I find strange in itself because if the main reason you purchase a gold membership is online gaming, isn't that enough of an edge to warrant the purchase?!
So then MS comes up with this great idea to take away the ablitity from Silver members to download demo's right away, to make it seem like Gold members are getting more. Ok, so theoretically they a...
I don't understand though. On the official site they stated that the demo would be available starting 8 AM PST. So that's in another 3 hours while the XBL demo is already available!? Weird.
I have both a 360 and PS3, and I'm going to download both just for kicks. :P
It was just way to easy, thus short. Also, because I was loaded with Plasmids/weapons/etc it wasn't much of a challenge either way.
I just expected more after all that tention build-up. I expected something truly epic, but that wasn't the case unfortunately.
Regardless, the game as a whole was fantastic. But the end boss and the ending as well was just disappointing, imo.
20 Hours! :(
It's supposed to release 8 am PST. It's now 3 pm PST.

It was over within seconds it seemed! :(
Or Ninja Gaiden's actual end boss. Although it seemed that the last hour of the game was end boss after end boss. I was actually relieved to find out the final boss was a cakewalk!
As for most annoying: RAAM on insane difficulty from GeOW. Without co-op I was sure it was impossible, but I managed to pull it off eventually, somehow.
Though, what exactly do you mean with "generalised nick"?
All I've done is given some pretty in depth and well-constructed criticism (if I say so myself). How is that generalizing?
Now if I would've said:
"Meh, GeOW rip-off!"
I could see where you're coming from. ;)
;)
Just so you people know. Might be worth mentioning in the header, so people know it's there as well.
The circuit enviroments in the Prologue demo were pretty bad I must say, but the city enviroments are just drop-dead gorgeous!
They are really the only developers that know how the get that photo-realistic(ish) look.
Again, wow!
Really looking forward to Fable 2 as well!
Peter Molyneux's is one of the few developers that is so passionate about his games, it's really inspiring. He really wants to make something special for all the right reasons. I hope he succeeds in this, as he has some really special idea's going on.
The dog concept and implementation is brilliant, so I look forward in finding out what these other 2 features are.
It's not that I don't want PS3 owners to have this game (I own one myself as well), but they'll need all the time and resources they can get to make ME 2&3 proper sequels on the 360 and make up for their "mistakes" with the first one.
Having to focus development on both the 360 and PS3 would most likely have a negative impact on the sequels.
I didn't have high hopes for this game and still don't think it's all that amazing. It does look decent enough.
The shooting mechanics actually look pretty good, but then he gets the Glaive and all just falls apart. It's supposed to be the interesting 'hook' of this game but it actually takes away of the pacing with the lame puzzles and slow-mo kills. It just doesn't seem all that fun or satisfying as the shooting mechanics, and that isn't a good sign obviously. Animations are ...
Visual damage model isn't all that convincing, I agree.
@Cartesian3D, I never said physics is the same as damage. I said:
"in terms of physics AND damage calculation Forza 2 really shines."
Forza 2 keeps track of/calculates so many factors that influence performance, it's really impressive. If you can't see that then you obviously haven't played the game.
"Cars act like PS1 game in changing directions."
...
I'd rather see them spend that time and resources on more usefull features.
Either way, can't wait for this game!
One thing I wonder is if the damage will affect the actual performance of the vehicles. In the same way as Forza 2 which does this with incredible depth.
Many people have been dogging Forza 2's graphics (which aren't all that impressive I agree), but in terms of physics and damage calculation Forza 2 really shines.
Game looks great though, can't wait to get my hand on this game. Whenever that will be for Europe. :|
But the reason I think Valve won't fail is because they will completely overhaul/delay/whatever this game to make sure it's something special.
Valve are one of the few developers that really want to deliver something fresh and special with a passion. They want to drive the industry, not just cash in.
That said, they could fail horribly regardless. But I believe in Valve! :P
