Either way, the game's looking interesting. Animations are horrible though and the graphics a mixed bag.
Furthermore, to the people saying this is an RPG: How much of an RPG is it really?
-Is there a non-linear mission-structure?
-Are there optional/side missions?
-Can you walk up to any NPC in the world and communicate with them?
-Can you move around freely within the gameworld?
So far, the only thing I've seen that this game "...
Surprised my *ss.
That's for sure.
Looks very interesting though, awesome art and it has very mysterious vibe going for it.
Just can't help but think this is slowly becoming vaporware.
GTA IV looks heaps better than this, it's not all about sharp textures and high levels of AA. GTA IV proves this like nothing else out there. It's about creating a believable city, something Prototype certainly doesn't achieve, not even close.
The developers in this video were pointing out during this very demo that the gameworld is believable and all...not even talking about how it would be when launching the game but actually right here and now. So that "pre-alpha argume...
It's a coverup, a cowards way of making excuses from the get go. How long have they been working on this game? Since 2005...pre-alpha? My *ss.
Also, the main issue's with pre-alpha builds are glitches and bugs. The main problems this game has go much deeper. It's start with the horrible art-direction, poor trade-offs/design choices and continues with so-so tech.
I'm willing to bet this game won't look all that much better come release this fall, sans perhaps some...
You've just won the '2008 OFFTOPIC AWARD'.
Seriously, what the hell?!
The graphics are really impressive and the whole atmosphere they've got going is excellent!
Looking good!
The developers of this game seem to think that throwing in enough vehicles and pedestrians will make the gameworld living and breathing, but they've certainly proven this isn't the case with this demo.
They should take a look at GTA IV and see how Rockstar DID infact manage to pull this off nicely.
Appreciated.
Much appreciated if someone can point this out for me.
Ala 'The 6th Day' and 'Minority Report'. Not too extreme, but futuristic nonetheless.
I'd definitely like that and would much prefer that over another 'Vice City' -like setting, which I found a bit boring.
I'm glad I've read this, because I now will exchange my 360 pre-order for the PS3 version. I hate pop-in and lack of aliasing, so I guess the PS3 version is the one to get.
Once the DL content hits the 360 and it's worthwile, I'll get the 360 version as well, second hand or something.
Still, I'd like to see the difference between the two myself before I get the game, so I'm hoping to see some proper comparison video.
I think the main problem would be the shipping of the game. All stores to get the game should have an equal chance in selling the game, and the only way would be to make sure that they all get to sell the game at the same time.
Shippment arrivals will differ from store to store, so it wouldn't be fair if one store got it earlier and started selling them while another's still waiting for the game to arrive. So that's why they set a specific "streetdate".
Very well done analysis, better than any of the official analysis's I've seen before. Nicely done.
Not a chance in hell.
That must've been the worst teaser trailer I've ever seen. What a waste of time.
*group hug* :p
Anyways, I agree. Both games should be enjoyable regardless. Redefining or not.
That's awesome! Here's the reference pic btw:
...I'm a nerd?
Damnit, fell right into that one!
Horrible art, way too messy. I don't like the sound of "not evolving the platforming as much" either.
Damn you Ubisoft for killing one of my favorite franchises. :|
