Completly agree with this. When it's absolutly aweful, like in House of the Dead, it's amazing, but there's just no excuse for it in modern games and completly takes the player out of the world.

Gotta say I am really excited for the new Fatal Frame, just hope that I havn't been spoiled too much by Until Dawn!

Mainly guilty of button mashing in fighters. The long list of possible moves for each character can be a hard thing to remember, especially when under pressure. :P

It's so easy to forget about the side-characters in games, despite the way that they often have an important impact upon the characters and story. Nice to see an article honouring some memorable characters from a great franchise.

If only more people would read this, the FPS community would be a better place. :P

Always interesting to see the figures and get an idea for what the companies are planning for the next year.

I like it when games offer a choice - like in Borderlands it's mostly about picking up health items, but you can choose to equip certain sheilds that will health regen, if you prefer. From the beginning, players can choose certain characters who can gain the ability of health regen through their tree paths as well. It's all about letting the player choose how they want to play.

Elements such as the sky and clouds can easily be taken for granted, but I always love the moment of entering into a new game and just stopping to appreciate the scenery.

Shame about the fiddly controls, but still a great classic!

Always a shame when as game has an interesting idea but doesn't manage to pull it off successfully. The level of strategy sounds like a decent challenge though.

I've been meaning to try one but have too many games to choose from as it is! Also I'd have no idea which one to start with, with the weird time line and all.

Really need to play these games, some of the villans are legendary - surprised The Pain didn't get on the list - 'Not the bees' eh Nesbitt? :P

Seems like an interesting game that's worth a look even if it is a little on the easy side.

Thoroughly agree with this. To the Moon is one of the few games that has truly hit me emotionally. There is too much focus on creating inventive mechanics that many developers seem to forget to include an impactful story. It's one thing to feel satisfied by discovering information for yourself, but another one entirely to be emotionally engaged by everything you find.

Luck does come in a little bit, but it is possible to have a look at the map, then reset if you think there isn't enough trees or some pesky wolves might get in your way. Some of the geographical layers can also be frustrating at times, but that just adds to the strategy and challenge.

Would certainly like to see a game explore the idea of civilian casualties and how this may affect the player, characters and story. Looks like a game to keep an eye on in the future.

It's looking good. Excited for more updates. :)

Completely agree with this. I think many anime titles could do well from taking the base of their world (and maybe refences to characters) and create a new story. That way fans get to explore the story world/situation while new players still have a fun experience.

400+ hours does sound slightly daunting. I think it's exciting that Fallout 4 has this many hours, although the potential glitches, and indeed memory space is a concern. There is also something exciting about starting a game that you know will grab you for a long time, you know you'll have to properly live and survive in the world because of the time required. My main hope is that it is something players can easily stop and start. If I move away from it for a week or so, will I still ...

Always a shame when a game only really makes sense for fans of the franchise. I liked the concept of Sword Art Online but couldn't get along with the characters when I tried watching it, so this game probably isn't really for me. It looks like they've done a good job at capturing the world and the combat though.
