That's interesting. devts typically choose the most difficult machine to work with for the lead platform.
That way they know that their features will work on all other platforms they want to port it to.
From the track record this is simply not a logical choice.
Who doesn't?
I disagree.
MS launched with more new core MS exclusive/timed exclusive games than the competition last year... DR3, Forza 5, Ryse, Killer Instinct, Powerstar Golf, etc. Then, they followed it up with Peggle 2, Halo Spartan Assault, Max the Curse of Brotherhood, PvZ Garden Warfare, and Titanfall.
In order for consoles to survive, they have to appeal to a broad audience. Look at the profitability of the big three console vendors. MS seems to be the only ...
VR is a gimmick. I've had Oculus Rift for a while now...
I spent the first week playing with it and then it has sat in the abyss of my basement ever since.
But, with that said, I buy all the gimmicks anyhow. So, I will buy this and will give it the token tryout!
It is the GDC not E3...
Sony seems to be coming for show...
MS by showcasing DirectX12 and ID@Xbox is talking to developers as the conference is meant to do.
GDC is not supposed to be a consumer marketing opportunity.
Kinect on every X1 is a good long term strategy.
First, it increases how many Kinects MS sells which in turn will reduce its cost over time. Making the device a cheap commodity for MS to produce.
Second, it ensures devts can rely on it being available to the system.
Third, it promotes "active" and "fitness" oriented gaming which will help X1's appeal to families that wouldn't normally like gaming.

Simply, Sony's gaming division is not in trouble.
The rest of Sony is not looking good.
The thing to watch is whether Sony is going to put pressure on the gaming division to pick up more slack from the other non-profitable divisions... That would be bad.
They haven't left 360 behind...
What is Fable Anniversary, Zoo Tycoon, World o Tanks, Halo Spartan Assault, Lococycle, and Titanfall? All new releases and all exclusive to at least MS platforms. And all released in the last 6 months. For a 9 year old platform that's excellent.
Dungeon Defenders is a very good game as well. Most of the games the companies give are only worth $20 anyhow so dropping to $15 isn't bad.
Both PS+ and XBL Gold are worthwhile...
PS+ usually has better free games, but XBL Gold usually has better sales on games.
LOL.
The game is successful because it is fun. Games don't have to be 1080p to be successful. They just have to be good and that's what this game is... Plain good...
I've played a few hours of Titanfall today and it is awesome. It kills everything that has been released so far this generation. And will probably hold up until Destiny comes out.
@gamingisnotacrime
The original design had to be at 98% by E3. There is no way it could be any less with devts building games and readying to mass produce the console in August/September.
Did you read the article? Where did MS say this makes X1 superior? When I read the article, the thing I got was "Hey, we made some design choices and they turned out to be good choices because we were able to make fundamental changes at the last second". There ...
Yeah, where are all the new IPs Sony?
Knack? Really...
I would rather see the focus on Drive Club and The Order.
True, the changes were inspired by the lack of pre-orders more than the capability to make them on their own...
But, as a technology expert myself, I know how deeply embedded the changes they had to make were, and to reengineer and redesign the OS, etc. because of it in the timeframe they did, makes anyone who knows anything about operating systems and firmware development smile and consider it a case study in success.
Honestly, with firmware and OSes on the ...
@piffdabiff
But these prices are based on the equivalent of a US dollar and the shipping, tariffs, import fees, and taxes in that country to get it into retail.
I think there are a few factors...
1) PS4 stock limitations
2) Titanfall Beta
3) MS has had a string of successes that have shown since launch of X1... DR3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Ryse, Powerstar Golf, Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, Peggle 2, PvZ Garden Warfare, and some really good, focused updates.
4) X1 game bundling
As I've said all along, I get to experience all the best games because I have all three platforms. I haven't started my Titanfall yet, but that will happen this weekend.
And then when infamous Second Son comes out I will go there...
And Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze needs more of my time...
And Quantum Break...
And the Order 1886...
And so on, and so on...
That is not entirely true. Your IQ is limiting yourself because not everything is about how many consoles you sell but more about who you sell them to.
For example... Japan has sold about 24 million consoles last gen... With about 155 million in game sales...
In comparison, the USA has sold 105 million consoles last gen with over 1.1 billion in game sales...
That means Japan has an attach ration of around 6.5:1 for games... But the USA has...
Wow...
South Park Stick of Truth is selling to a 160,000,000 console (PS3 and X360) user base and Titanfall is selling to a 3,600,000 console user base....
Why is it doing better?
I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to come up with the answer.
As long as the frame rate is above 30 fps, and the resolution is 720p or greater, it is perfectly fine. There seems to be differences in the graphics. Some better, some worse...
I'm sure it will be a game worth owning!
So Sony is managing inventories to make sure they stay on top of sales charts?
But, gamers think that this is an ok consumer practice?
I'm glad the consoles are selling solidly!
