This has actually been a serious issue for a long time. I remember in BF1942 (back in 2002) typing all sorts of shit into the chatbox to get my team to actually take objectives.
I blame Call of Duty almost entirely for this mindless stupidity. That series puts way too much focus on killstreaks and K/D Ratio. And its popularity has ruined FPS gaming.
