Well hold on now. I agree with most of this guy's points but the very fact that he hasn't played any of the earlier Final Fantasy games automatically makes him unqualified to determine what is and what is not a Final Fantasy game. If you haven't played FFIV, FFV or at least the shining pinnacle of the FF series, FFVI, you cannot have any opinion on whether XIII is or is not a FF title. End of story.

In all honesty I have come to hate Ubisoft for their absolutely criminal DRM software that actually keeps paying customers like myself from enjoying their games. Ubisoft apparently hates us PC gamers so I would like to take this moment to proudly extend my middle finger to Ubisoft. Fock you, assholes! I hope EA or Activision buys you out!
This game is both genius and madness all at the same time. Its truly addictive and rewarding but also brutal and uncompromising. It is the very definition of a "hardcore game".
May it be the revolution that gaming has waited for. I could see myself playing a lot more games like it.
It flopped because Remedy screwed over PC gamers, where almost their ENTIRE fanbase is.
This an important lesson for Remedy and I hope they take it to heart:

I just picked up Final Fantasy Tactics off the Playstation store and I have to say that this game could not possibly be more "Japanese" but that is why it has so much charm. Sure, its kinda clunky and the translation is off but the game is 80 hours long and one of the finest examples of a strategy RPG around.

Well, I bought all 3 consoles too I enjoyed them quite a bit until one *ahem* *cough* 360 *cough* got certain red lights while 1 month past warranty and now it and its ginormous power brick are now glorified paper weights. But it's not just me, my brother is on his 2nd 360, my friend is on his 5th and eight other people I know have had at least one xbox 360 replaced.

And I have every confidence that The Last Guardian will be proclaimed by artists everywhere to be of even finer craftsmanship next year. Sony is BEYOND fortunate to have such a brilliant mind like Fumito Ueda working for them. His kind of talent is exceedingly rare these days.
Actually that is not true. MKII was accepted as a very deep competitive fighting game and for a long time, it rivaled Street Fighter and sold a lot better.
But with MK3 taking out lots of fan favorite characters (like Scorpion, Kitana, Mileena, Reptile, Raiden, Johnny Cage and Baraka) and adding "dial a combos" and a stupid run button, Mortal Kombat began to lose the crowds at the arcades. They remedied some of that with UMK3 but MK4 was an epic disaster.

If we had known it wouldn't have towns, shops, or even an overworld and airship we would have turned on it well before then. That was easily the worst press conference I've seen since Nintendo's E3 conference 2 years ago. I was bored to tears and I kept checking my watch throughout the entire thing.
You should definitely do that. MKII was the pinnacle of the series, its the most balanced and well rounded. Don't get me wrong, I liked 3 but its really gone downhill since II. And why the hell did they change the numerals from Roman to Arabic?
This is the first MK that gives off that MK 1-3 vibe of really mature and dark but not over the top ridiculous like the later MK games. Don't know about you guys, but I'm sold. Plus MK tag sounds like so much fun!
