I'm a huge Superman fan and have been all my life but I have to face the facts, a proper game about the Last Son of Krypton will require a game engine that could handle full scale city destruction and to be honest, that's outside the realm of current physics engines.
I'm talking about punching someone like Lobo through a building and watching it collapse realistically. The closest thing out there is the Frostbite engine that powers the Battlefield franchise but e...
1998 completely annihilates the other years.
It's not even close and the best thing about the games of 1998 is that most of them were original recipe, not sequels. It was that year in particular that caused the fall of the arcade scene. How could arcades compare to the epic win that was releasing on home consoles?
Gaming was changed forever that year and we are still feeling the effects of it. Of course, I loved the entire decade of the 90s but '98 s...
While I get what the author is implying, I seriously disagree with his conclusions. For my money, the PS3 was THE console to own this generation. I own a 360 and a Wii as well as an epic gaming PC but the $600 I spent on my PS3 is easily the best $600 I've spent on gaming hardware over the last 8 years. I challenge ANYONE to show me a console that had more awesome exclusives and generation defining games since 2005. I WISH I had a time machine so I could go back in time and bitch slap mys...
I seriously can't believe COD has been outselling Battlefield up until now. I mean all COD does is copy Battlefield's innovations. In 2007 when everyone was freaking out about COD4, I had been unlocking new weapons and equipment and playing in 64 player maps in BF2 for 2 and a half years!
Why was COD4 (or any COD for that matter) so popular? The only thing COD has that BF didn't was a single player campaign and no one plays them more than once anyway!

Funny thing is, I said that exact thing in 1996.
"Nintendo is living in the past. CDs are the future! Final Fantasy belongs on Nintendo! Why are they being so cheap? I can't imagine what Final Fantasy is going to look like on a Sony machine. It's just wrong..."
Flash forward 17 years and I can't imagine FF on anything else. Also FFVII and FFVIII came to PC too. Squares been jumping platforms since the mid 90's but since FFVII-XII we...
Well if the trends continue as they are, the XBone will be as forgotten as the Atari Jaguar and Sqaure-Enix may decide that the publishing costs for such a miniscule market aren't worth it.
It might as well be exclusive at this point so let not your heart be troubled, Sony fanboys. A year from now we'll all be laughing about Squeenix trying to sell Kingdom Hearts to the 2% of the market that doesn't mind getting anally violated by Microsoft's DRM policies.
The "Titanic of gaming" released 16 years ago. It was called Final Fantasy VII. FFVII's story was better, music was better and I cried far more tears playing it than I ever did watching Titanic.
The real question is when will the "Final Fantasy VII of movies" come out?
Honestly, if you might as well consider FFXV and KH3 still exclusive because the reaction to the XBone has been less than impressive over the last few weeks. By the time these games release, something like 95% of the audience will be on PS4. It might as well be exclusive. And if the trends continue, Square Enix will likely decide the publishing costs are too much for the other 5% of the market to port it to the XBone.
The Sega we all once knew is no more. Most of the best Sega developers no longer work at the company. And the truth is we are all looking at Sega with rose colored glasses. We only remember the good things. But how about the bad things like:
1. Not bringing a lot of their best games over from Japan
Games like Shining Force III: Scenario 2 & 3, Princess Crown, Alien Soldier, Dragon Force II, Policenauts, etc. To be fair, Nintendo and Sony do this a lot t...
The Rock says you can take that always online Xbox One with built in kinect, shine it up real nice, turn that sumbitch sideways and stick it straight up your candy ass!!!
And then the Rock is gonna take that DRM infested POS down Know Your Role Boulevard, hang that right at Jabroni Drive, and then proceed to check your candy ass directly into the Smackdown Hotel!!!
If ya smelllllllllllllllllllllllllll looooooouuuuuu!!!!!!
What the Rock... <...
The Dreamcast will NEVER die!!!
It may be gone but it will never be forgotten.
I've been gaming since 1990 and without any doubt, the Dreamcast had the finest launch lineup in history. Coming from the Playstation and N64, the experience of seeing SoulCalibur running in 480p at 60fps was almost a religious experience. No console before or since has made me change my pants like that beautiful white box did.
Sadly this next gen seems like a...
Oh yeah that one made me lol all over the place.
This is the kind of ignorant self-righteous idiot that passes for a Kotaku "journalist" these days? Either that or she actually does know about Michelangelo's "David" sculpture and willfully bitched about it just to drum up hits.
Either way, Gamers need to steer clear of this brain cell killing cesspool.
NEGATORY.
IGN can post some pretty crappy articles but they could never, EVER match the volume of sensationalist crap coming from Kraptaku. Its a whole other level of inflamatory fecal matter.
Yeah honestly The Twin Snakes was an epic disaster of a game. Not only was it too easy but the cutscenes were so over the top that you can't take the game seriously anymore.
If Snake could jump off of a rocket in mid flight, dodge bullets and pull off such acrobatics, why the hell would he spend the whole game SNEAKING around?
It would be interesting as a sort of alternate version like deleted scenes from a DVD. But the original should always be the main ...
Wow, if gun manufacturers are getting money from licensing then I need to start buying MORE of these games.
They need all the support people can give them with the crazy msnbc dumbf@cks trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens.
I had no idea I was supporting 2 of my favorite things when I bought videogames. I'm looking forward to Battlefield 4's release even more now.
There is a special place in the deepest, darkest corners of hell for LJN. They turned our favorite movies and TV shows into the crappiest games in history.
Beloved properties like:
Back to the Future
The Karate Kid
Spider-Man
Alien
Jaws
and many others
There is no curse in all the tongues of men for this treachery. May the bastards burn forever.
@Snookies12
I know what you mean.
This gen got off to an awful start. Most of the JRPGs released from 2006-2010 were either very average to awful or didn't get localized. It's not that good JRPGs weren't being made, it's just that the best ones almost never made it over or if they did, there were massive delays like in Ni No Kuni's and Xenoblade's case.
In related news I am so glad Squeenix demoted Wada. That dumbass...
How in the blue hell can you consider the Kinect a success? Name 1 game that is worth the extra cost. Just one. There is not a hardcore gamer alive that can.
Kinect is every bit a disaster as the uDraw and Wonderbook and there is no escaping that fact. This actually reminds me of the end of the 16bit generation when Sega was promoting the 32X. What an abysmal, history defining failure that was.
If you haven't got a killer app, your device is a piece of ...
The only thing "jaw dropping" about Kinect is how much of an utter failure it has been.
Oh and Microsoft treating Rare like a little bitch for so many years is cause for war. You don't force a company with this kinda pedigree to make motion based casual games.
It's quite simple really: the world is going to hell.
Everywhere you look countries are gearing up for war Pakistan/India, China/Japan, Israel/Palestine, North Korea/Everyone, etc. There's Coups, Protests, terrorism, uprisings, diseases, deathcults and all kinds of violence everywhere. Any of these things could end society as we know it.
Humans are insane and we can't help but destroy everything. I can't believe we've survived as long as w...
