It seems a little too ambitious to me, Bungie might be spreading themselves thin on this. If it turns out alright but doesn't really set the world on fire then this may be pretty much all Bungie will be doing for 10 years :/
That Marcel guy is full of it.
"It will launch in fall of 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and next-gen 'technologies.'"
What happened to the 'exclusivity'?
Also, is this the whole reveal? Next to no info on the actual game just some artwork and story deets.
Oh I see OXCGN has submitted this article early so they can have a 'placeholder' on N4G, for shame.
I'd rather see what they have in mind with the Move built into the controller.
I hope we see it and PS4 before Christmas, will make for some interesting VGchartz articles ;P
Only a select few xbox titles work (without a hitch) on the 360, MS didn't really support BC as much as they should have. They kind of lost interest and dropped it like they dropped the Xbox.
We won't necessarily have to pay again if the PS4 can just recognise a genuine PS1/2/3 disc it could unlock the game on Gaikai, as long as the disc is in.
I agree that it will be blown massivley out of proportion if one console has it and the other doesn't.
I disagree I think it's overrated and, although a nice bonus when implemented properly, superfluous to the reason I buy a new console.
They forgot having no excuse for bad ports as system architecture will be far similar next gen.
Knickers!
Ni No Kuni is sellin' very flippin' well for a niche title, mun.
I never said they HAD to do anything I just thought that, with Sony hogging the limelight and all the buzz around PS4, MS might want to grab a piece of the action. Seems to me like they're just twidling their thumbs and hoping people don't get too caught up in the excitement.
Is it so surprising to expect something from MS? These are the guys who sailed a giant barge ad past the PS3 launch.
Edit: @below
"You make it sound...
I agree and in one way or another my PS3 has delivered and kept me happy for a lot of years.
New consoles or not there's still a slew of great games hitting current gen consoles and I won't pass them by, even if I get a PS4.
Next gen is here and Sony are making all the noise. Come on MS get your finger out and give us something to get excited about. It seems like they're just giving Sony all the buzz.
2009-2013 it's been a long year of the PS3. In my opinion it's been on the ball for all that time and will continue so for a few years yet. That's no slight on the competition just an observation on PS3s performance.
"The PS4 Doesn’t Need to Compete with the Next-Gen Kinect"
The less it tries, the better it will be.
It would be an incredibly smart move for Sony to provide two SKU's at launch, one with BC; even smarter to make it a limited edition. That thing would be snapped up faster than a 12-year-old at an R. Kelly concert.
What I do is 'promote' all my older games to my 'man cave' (not a euphemism) leaving room in my living room for newer games.
Anyway the size of ones backlog is not an argument for the level of importance in backwards compatibility as you don't have to throw your old console out the minute you get a new one.
I understand your POV and I have a decent sized collection (some unopened lol) myself but I'd rather save the extra money it would cost to implement BC on a new console off it's price. Like you say, if you feel there aren't enough games to keep you busy at the launch of a new console then why buy it? Just wait a few months and get it when there are, probably save you some money too.
I'm sure I've said this before somewhere but I'll say it again anyway, backwards compatibility is OVERRATED.
Are people really buying new hardware just to play old games? I get that it's nice to have but most people really exaggerate the need for it.
The downside to having an online only game on Xbox is that only the gold paying gamers get to play at all, which means not as many people playing as opposed to a game you can play offline too.
