I think you're right. GTA IV was announced to be in development back in '05/'06 and was originally lined up for an '07 release date and wound up coming out in April 2008. If we haven't heard even a confirmation that GTA V even exists in the development stage, I'm sure we'll be looking at a scheduled release date well into 2012, if not even 2013.

I'd hate to wait that long, but Rockstar really takes their time with their games, and if this ...

It doesn't matter which "shooter" will eventually beat CoD in sales. I mean, isn't that irrelevant to us gamers? Do you care how many copies a games sells?? We don't care which publisher/developer laughs all the way to the bank, just wanna play a great game right?

It also doesn't matter, because once the next "big shooter" gains mainstream popularity, sells well, and releases several iterations in the series, Y'all are gonna start h...

"Those "crap cellphone games" such as Pong and PacMan did wonders for this industry 20 years ago."

Dude, you're showing your (young) age ;) ... 20 years ago it was 1991.. I had a Super Nintendo and was playing games like U.N. Squadron and Final Fight.. even 20 years ago we were waaaaaaaay past Pong and PacMan .. those were some of the earliest games available to the public and they were popular in arcades back in the mid-late 70's. In fact, &quo...

Exactly.. It's all just a trend. Everyone hates COD because it's the cool thing to do... That's probably why it sells a gazillion copies every year..

@ Da Threats

And what exactly is a "noob to you??"

I own a 360 and a ps3 and enjoy all types of games from FPS's to racing (both arcade and sim racers), to RPG's, 3rd person action/adventure, survival horror, platformers, and sports games. Ive been gaming since I was 8 and I had my first Atari 2600 (I'm 31 now). So I must be a "noob" for playing COD right??

I love the COD series. Yea I know its the sam...

No need to hate on the lil' ones because they don't know what a good game is.. I mean, when I was 16 I thought "Dino Crisis" was a good game ;)

"As for me i will be buying both BF3 and COD MW3....I dont care if people hate on COD, i luv its online because of its arcade style game play which is just so addictive and fun..When i want to play something more tactical I will switch CD and put it BF3."

Couldn't agree more! I am waiting with anticipation for both BF3 and MW3 for the same reasons. COD is my mindless fast-paced arcade shooter, and Battlefield is my strategic, tactical shooter. That's ki...

Right on man! I'm glad someone else here caught onto the fact that hating on COD is what you do if you're part of the "in" crowd here at N4G. I say whatever to the haters ;) I'm a COD fan and that doesn't make me any less of a gamer.

So is it me, or is just "cool" to hate on Black Ops and MW2, and any developer who's responsible for their creation? I think i'll be the first N4G user to say I really enjoyed both games quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to MW3.

I understand why "pure" or "hardcore" gamers hate these COD games--because they haven't innovated or done anything new since 2007, AND because they've created a sort of casual console gamer--we al...

hmmm.. Doesn't sound as promising as I had hoped. My heart sank as soon as the author mentioned that Codemaster's is "making Red River more accessible to appeal to the Call of Duty crowd." FPS fans don't need another mindless shooter.. I'm think many of us were looking forward to another thinking man's FPS.

I think it's safe to see, this will be a "rent it first" game when it comes out this April.

I'm confused.. Why would you think the 360 versions of multiplatform games would outperform the Ps3 versions of the same game? If anything, the PS3 has the superior hardware, so wouldn't it be the other way around?

Sounds like you're holding onto a fanboy grudge dude..

WOW. I'm sure this is a PC screenshot, but I bet it'll still look mind blowing on my 360. fall can't come soon enough! waiting for BF3 feels like i'm stuck in purgatory, but I can see heaven through it's glass window!

Agreed. OP Dragon Rising got shit on because it was too challenging for most. No one cared to notice the detailed squad mechanichs, or that when you put rounds down range bullets had a true trajectory. Hell, that was the first game in a while where you actually had the option to select the rate of fire on your rifle! I bet Red River will be even better.. can't wait

Right!?!?! What a total douchebag the author of the article is! I'd like to give him a swift sucker punch in right in his taint. I'm willing to bet that he was made fun of quite a bit in school for liking videogames a tad too much. He's probably one of those super-hardcore douche-nerds who also strictly plays ONLY on PC because he thinks that console games are dumbed down to appeal to monkeys and cavemen with limited cognition.

So apparently myself and Shinobi...

So apparently NOBODY here enjoys Black Ops???

All I hear from people on this website WHENEVER someone mentions the words "patch," "FPS" or "battlefield" is a scathing slew of negativity toward Black Ops and anything that isn't COD4, BF3, or some PC shooter. If you don't like it--don't play it..

I'm pretty excited for Homefront.. I'm surprised they didn't mention it given the hype it's recieved.

arjman, You are SO right, however I agree AND disagree: Since the popularity of the COD franchise, the market has been absolutely flooded with military FPS games, where had it not been for COD (arguably COD4, mainly), developers would likely be pursuing different avenues of game styles and genres, rather than blindly churning out (mostly) generic FPS's. I mean, we probably could've gone without half-baked games like Dick Marcinko's Rougue Warrior and The new Medal of Honor... ...

@Reburn, You're right. I love that my PSN account is free-to-play online, but damned if I can get into a match on most games where the servers aren't super laggy.

At this point I prety much only buy Sony exclusives for my ps3, like the uncharted series, gran turismo, killzone, etc.. If I'm picking up a game with an interesting multiplayer component, I buy it for 360. I think the $60/yr is worth it for the good solid connection and (mostly) lag-free play.

Am I the only one who didn't get a garbage copy of New Vegas? I've owned my copy since release week back in october and the game has never crashed on me, and I have yet to witness any bugs/gliches other than the occasionally still-animated corpse of an enemy i've killed. I've completed the entire storyline quest and at least 20-30 side quests, all without interruption or crashing.

I'll be the first to admit that the framerate stutters quite a bit, but no...

Wow. Blatant flaming fanboys on this thread and not much more, eh?

Let's all be honest here: Both Forza 3 AND GT5 have their own individual short-comings regarding graphics, gameplay, and the occasional glitches. Despite that, they both remain top tier sim-racers regardless. And if you are a fan of sim-racers and you own both consoles, than you should own both games.

You fanboys can "thumbs down" me all you want, but at least this thread...
