Yea, OpF:Dragon Rising was a great game.. a good dose more challenging and tactical than the average military FPS, but sometimes a bit too hard. I'm waiting to check out OpF:Red River sometime soon too..
another under-rated or not well known FPS out there that you can grab for CHEAP ($10 used at Gamestop) is Condemned 2: Bloodshot.. i guess it's more of a First Person hack, slash, and bludgeon, but there are plenty of guns too.. Just that the focus is on hand-to-hand and melee combat. If you like the immersion of a first person game, and you like psychological thriller/survival horror genre, this game is a must play for you!
In regards to this article, the only thing i ...
I really think it depends on the gamer, if it's a disadvantage of having less exclusives. Most of the upcoming games I want to play are multiplat titles..the only exclusives coming out that I really care about are Forza 4 and Uncharted 3.. (and I'll get both)
Playstation has a bigger list but none of them really suit my tastes... then again, niether does the slew of exclusive Kinect titles either..
What!?! No Agent Micheal Thornton from Alpha Protocol!?!
I couldn't stand having to take control of that f***ing nob for that game. How you can have a "top 10 moronic/idiotic/socially inept game characters" list and leave out Agent Thornton, is beyond me.
I followed this game pretty closely a few years back, and I remember the devs saying it was really meant to pay tribute to a real life squad of soldiers who experienced the start of the quest to secure Bagdhad in the first weeks of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
What sucks is, not just that the game was never made, but because videogaming was the medium that was chosen to present the story, it was shot down and not seen as "relevant" by the press and the genereal publ...
I don't care about trophies/achievments, but I might if they unlocked bonus content for getting them..weapons, outfits, whatever. I don't need the bragging rights.
I pesonally prefer to run around and be close to the frontlines in online shooters, but all you people who are complaining about "campers" should check yourself.
Camping is a playstyle, and a strategic one at that. If you find that campers are killing you over and over, than you must be that guy who sprints straight across the map as soon as you spawn... Move methodically, beware of the camping spots on the maps, watch your radar, and when possible be tactical whi...
Well said! I agree!
My favorite example of chronic internet complaining are all those people that are complaining that consoles are "not maxing out thier power on games 'cuz developers are lazy." Or the few delusional folks that will claim that developers like Crytek and DICE "need to learn how to properly develop for the Ps3 so it will have graphics similar/better than a PC."
As if most of those people complaining would be able to sit do...
Omg "Rogue warrior" was one of the worst games I've ever played on ANY console EVER!!
However, it seems they forgot to add Alpha Protocol to the list? that has to be one of the worst games ever.
I switch between the classes depending on where I can help advance my squad the best (minus recon, cuz I just don't have the patience for sitting on a hilltop with a sniper rifle all day). But What I will miss in the assault class it the ability to drop ammo and regenerate grenades for the M203 launcher. When I first discovered that you can regen grenades for the launcher, i though it was cheap, but then realized that so much of the gameplay was based around distructible environments th...
@ Psycho_Mantis
..So anyway... how are those 800 cars that were ported from a Ps2 game workin out for ya?
Dont worry, Evildead.. All those disagrees must be from the huge horde of sony fanboys on this site. They disagree because it looks pretty clear that Turn 10 are about to upset Polyphony Digital by releasing a superior racer than Gran Turismo 5.
It's too bad, because they spout all this bullshit, but I am most certain 97% of them have never played forza 2 or 3.. whereas, I own GT5 and, while it's prettier than forza and offers several racing styles, its not the bet...
Wow.. someone on N4G just made a rational fanboy-free statement of pure fact and thought. Have a bubble, dude.
Btw, I completely agree.. 2 different gameplay styles = 2 different types of fun

Well, don't I feel like a complete tool.. I bought Black Ops close to it's original release for US retail price($60).. then in Feb picked up the first map pack ($15) then in May picked up the second one.
You can call me whatever you like and disagree all you want, but I buy games that I want to play, not games that the N4G community deems "cool."
But Having now realized that I could be buying the game at present time with ALL DLC inclu...
I agree. I'd like to see R* keep on the same realistic path that they took with GTAIV. And besides, there was plenty of humor abound in that game, both in dialoge between characters and in the way R* flawlessly captured the nonsense of our modern day society through stinging satire.
If people want a cartooney, over the top action/crime sandbox game they have SR
How does the Xbox 360 "dumb down" a multiplat game?? People on this website talk about the 360 like it's an Atari 2600. I don't get it..
@ deadman_senji:
The FPS genre won't die out soon, and its anything but "new." Read up on your videogame history from 1995-2002.. Between those years games like Doom, Golden Eye, Unreal, The original WWII Medal of Honor, and the first Ghost Recon title were raking in money and garnering strong fanbases... if you aren't sure, those titles were all First Person Shooters.
Now to correct you, The Article never attempts to say that "firs...
For me, the option to aim down the gunsights in a game is less about not seeing the gun firing, but more a way to get strategic shots off when you want. Say theres an enemy in the distance that hasnt detected you yet: seems easier to aim down the sights (not necessarily a "scope") for an accurate killshot to the head. And it's not just Call of Duty that incorporates that "ADS" mechanic: In fact, every FPS I've played in the last 5 years or so has had an option to ...
The two missions from the campaign the author is writing about are the exact same missions everyone has seen since the E3 demo a month ago. In those missions nothing that was shown in the gameplay or environments were "new" and exciting as the author implies.
I really thought that with EA pushing the envelope with BF3, that we'd see Activision step it up with the CoD franchise.
