I respect his past work, but could we please just stop having everything that comes out of this guy's mouth reported as news here on N4G?
If you haven't touched it in years how would have any first hand knowledge about the state of the software library? I'm currently playing Socom FTB3 multiplayer and Dante's Inferno on the PSP. Both games are outstanding portable titles, IMHO, and were released within the last two months.
@R_1993: Exact opposite here. I bought both systems at launch the DS has been collecting dust for years, I use the PSP nearly everyday. The PSP software library just completely pwns the titles available on the DS if you like games targeted for adults. I can name twenty utterly kick a** titles off the top of my head.
My second grader daughter and all her friends rock the DS hard, though. Nintendogs, Cooking Mama, Mario stuff, etc.
If I were a dev sending him a review copy of a new title, I'd definitely wrap the game in bacon.
If they have a slim they would have to change their retarded HDD setup/form factor if that's the case. Maybe they'll make it user upgradeable finally.
Hopefully it'll have a fan, too. ;)
This. Twisted Metal series is hyper-overrated.
This. He would be my first thought, if I were casting a GOW movie, too.
Bodycount is being done by the same main guy and many of the original devs are on his team from the sound of it. So really why do we desperately want not one but TWO sequels to a somewhat above average last gen shooter? Sounds like it's plenty covered to me.
I'm a huge FPS fan and the more the merrier but, honestly, it's not like we don't have fifteen thousand FPS's lined up already. You'll all like Crysis 2 or KZ3 better than what this thing would have ended up being anyway.
A lot of the Classic PS1 games make for kick a** PSP titles and @ $5.99 for most titles, the price is right. I've been rocking Crash Bandicoot on PSP of late.
The original PS1 controller was just a d-pad style controller so a lot of the games have control schemes that make sense without a right analog stick. The PSP is actually more graphically powerful than the PS1 by far, but on the small physical size PSP screen a lot of the games that were on the PS1 cutting edge like Crash, ...
Hopefully this will show up on NA PSN sometime soon. It seems like a perfect choice for a memory stick game (no load times, quick to pickup and play/arcadey).
Also, Kudos to SNK for pricing this sanely on day one. At $19.99 for a new release, it makes more sense than the typical $39.99 given its simple gameplay/style.
Hopefully Tim attended the "How to design games that live up to their promise" seminar while he was there. Brutal Legend was ultra mediocre.
Awesome. So if I have one brand of TV in one room the glasses won't work on another brand of TV in a different room. Gotta love proprietary solutions for stuff like this (facepalm).
@ $130 per viewer, poor off angle viewing, and requirement to replace my $2000 TV with a $3000 TV, this whole idea reeks of fail. Have any of you guys been to a 3D movie in the past year? It's not that big a deal.
@champ21: My PCs gfx card alone cost more than my X360 did. What's your point?
Everyone knows a PC with a bleeding edge GFX card is the cutting edge platform for any multiplat title that supports it and it's usually about $2000 investment for a rig. A $600 PC is not going to run Crysis2 in a GFX mode that will blow away consoles at an acceptable frame rate. If you're going to turn everything down you might as well use a console and not have to d*ck around with all the configurati...
After reading this and seeing another GDC vid w SOCOM4/Move, this sounds like it s*cked donkey dong compared to a regular controller for this type of game.
Really this thing is going to hopelessly blow for FPS and TPS games. Sure it'll rock for golf games, but let's just stop trying to kid ourselves about this being all things to all gamers.
Reports of the mouse's death are greatly exaggerated.
They should have done an online beta.
/sarcasm
If they have any sense at all you would be able to create local copies of content you have a legal license to. This is why they've been patenting stuff like time decaying demos, rentable/expirable games, etc.
PSN is already like this somewhat as well. It knows what you own and what you don't when you're logged in. If you're hurting for local storage you can delete a local copy of something and then redownload it when you want to play it again. This is how I manage PSN PSP games ...
Bring on the casual shovelware!
The airbrushing on his skin to make him look more muscular looks retarded.
