Agreed. From a sales perspective which is what publishers care about COD is the KING whether the nerd-ragers here like it or not and a game like Bodycount is not likely to be competitive with COD in that context. If they compare favorably to say Borderlands on sales, that'd be a HUGE win.
Uhh... why do some Christian groups seem to think everything has to be run through some sort of Jesus filter? Why would you expect the video game industry to do anything other than create products that sell well?
What's the industry doing for Muslims? How about Hindus? Wiccans?
You think the extra money is going to DEVELOPERS? That's so naive it's actually cute.
They're $60 because PUBLISHERS (i.e. folks like Activision) have determined that's what the market will bear, IF they choose to make the terms for studios better and IF the studio's management decide to share their good fortune and IF the going rate for industry talent goes up, then Johnny Programmer will get a couple $$/wk raise or modest bonus next year.
Much of it's going to be ...
@CommanderTK: No matter how you slice it or define it: It's sill ONLY ON PLAYSTATION. :)
Modnation Racers is going to be SEX ON WHEELS. Play, Create, Share, FTW.
It must actually be a pretty decent farm simulation if all you get for all your hard work is a pile of debt at the end!
The article on IGN specifically stated PS3, PC, X360. I haven't been this excited about a game announcement since the Kane and Lynch 2 announcement! (facepalm).
I hope it's that deep down he's always felt he's a woman trapped inside a man's body and that it's prompted a decision on his part to leave the video game business to pursue his dream of becoming a trans*xual mime.
Heavy Rain for $29 is a good deal. Quit yer b*tchin.
MW2 is a great game.
I'm glad I make enough money to be able to afford it, BC2, and MAG, all at the same time; so I don't have to act like a self-important asshat on the internet and nerdrage about how the world's best selling video game "sucks" and how "people are sheep, man!" 24/7 like most dorko's here do.
Having a job can be a good thing sometimes.
I don't play games I just read N4G so I don't have to!
Thanatos: You are a knob. Get over the MAG thing. Stop bringing it into every single MW2 or BFBC2 thread. It's a good, solid, game but the pacing and variety sucks compared to BFBC2.
FWIW: I've pretty much shelved MW2 for BFBC2 (with some MAG thrown in) but really, I still understand why people play MW2. It's much more kick ass than the haters give it credit for... The design just made different trade-offs.
MW2 feels more like the "old school ADD on crack" ...
On what planet are iPad/iPhone/iPod touch games "sick as hell"? I want to go to that place and visit because here on earth they blow donkey.
Ditto. I own all three current gen consoles, multiple PSP and DS handhelds, and a gaming PC. This is a spectacular year.
My "want list" is booked solid through april 2011. :)
For me, the PS3 is EASILY the lead platform, though, but that said really, I could easily get by on just a 360 this year much kick a** stuff and if a new Gears is coming, I am IN.
Last year was I loving the 360 line up? Not so much. But the wait looks worth it.
I'll admit I didn't read the article but, FWIW, if history is any guide the first generation of ANYTHING Microsoft does FAILS massively. If they're really on the ball the second works but it may take even more spins than that.
It took them, what, 20 years to figure out how to write a decent OS? And then they forgot (Vista) and then they remembered again (7). <facepalm>
Yup sounds like PR talk. BUT I respect the devs trying to hold themselves to a high standard, though. I think Crytek consider themselves the graphics king on the PC (which is widely recognized as the most graphically intense platform) so I think they feel they have a lot to live up to and I think they'll produce a graphically amazing game on all three platforms even if it's "kingship" is debatable.
I REALLY HOPE they shoot for some EFFICIENCY in their engine, though. Co...
I'm a fairly happy Steam customer but it bothers me on principle that a game developer also owns the most important digital game distribution system.
Valve is a "benevolent monarchy" at this point but I have a lot of $$$ tied up in Steam games. If Valve changes ownership or adopts a less enlightened corporate policy or decides to be unfair to competitors, as a customer, I'll be at their mercy. Companies can morph pretty heavily as they grow. I've experienced it firsthan...
This. I don't think anyone EVER claimed it redefined action gaming. It sure as h*ll PERFECTED it, though! :)
Who cares whether it's linear or non-linear? FPS is all about multiplayer. Single player campaigns are for getting used to the controls.
I still have a Nomad. It was an amazing device at release but it was never destined for mainstream success. It's still easy to find games for it. :) The rechargeable battery or an AC adapter was a must, though.
