Yeah, but you have to admit banning all that stuff really works, because the Middle East is one of the quietest, safest, most non-violent regions in the whole wide world!
Unlike FO3, Black Ops is adding a lot of new features, modes, and user requests to the gameplay. Bots, dedicated servers, the theater mode, zombie mode, the currency system, wager matches, character customization may not turn you on but they are all new features Black ops has that MW2 did not.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY they are making an effort to at least MAINTAIN the engine (i.e. fix bugs and release updates). If you don't like COD games that's FINE lots of people don...
I dunno man, you've only played it six hours and it has crashed twice? And a reviewer pans a GotY sequel specifically calling it out as buggy? NO THANKS. There's enough awesome stuff coming out this holiday season to make this a pass on it @ $60 and wait for a used copy title, right there.
I will pass on the PS3 version if they have not bothered to even try to stabilize the engine on the PS3 in the what? Two years since F3?
It's pathetic that they released the GotY in such a crappy state, but it was CRIMINAL to not even make an effort to patch it. They obviously had enough resources to repackage and resell the product as a GotY, yet they couldn't bother to get it into a state where it wasn't essentially defective? Talk about sh*tty ethics.

I don't think it's a 5/10 BUT it feels more like COD:MW than it does BFBC2 to me. The only thing BFBC2 about it is the engine. The MP modes and play style are clearly modeled much more closely to MW2 than BC2.
IMHO, all the fair reviews for this game are in the 7.5-8.5 range, IMHO. I'd personally call it a 7.5 which is good enough to buy full price if you are a big FPS fan, IMHO. If you are not a major fan of FPS, it's in the "wait for a discount" c...
Week Two: It will sell at least 700K more units....
USED!!
LOL.
I crack myself up.
But seriously, this game is a fine diversion for FPS fans while waiting for COD:BO and the BC2 Nam Pack. I like the objective based MP modes just fine right now. If you are not a huge FPS fan I'd wait to check out Black Ops and decide for yourself which one suits you, though. A lot of people were expecting this to set a new milestone and I ...
FWIW, I've loved both MW and MW2's campaigns. That was total bonus, too, since I've gotten hundreds of hours out of the MP modes. The modern FPS's primary value proposition is the MP.
I can remember the Wolf 3D/Doom/Duke days and really, those long "campaigns" were initially designed to be the meat of the game but over time it shifted to MP. And to be honest, I thought Doom/Duke/etc SUCKED as SP games compared to modern FPS campaigns even if they wer...
I wish valve was a public company so I could buy some stock.
Dude? Have you actually played any shooting games (not gallery games like Time Crisis, but shooters, like MAG or RE5)?
Those gun controllers SUCK.
They're more of a liability than anything else, the buttons are in terribly awkward positions when they're in use and modern shooters need ALL of the buttons instantly accessible.
Also, games like RE5 and MAG do not control well when you're waving the wand all around. They want really ...
You can save the condescending straw man arguments for people dumb enough to listen. Meanwhile, go ahead, and rock your "fart app" on your iPhone and tell yourself you're gaming. I have an Android smartphone running @ 1GHz and my PSP runs RINGS around it as a gaming device.
If you only game on a portable system for five minutes while waiting in line somewhere a phone is great, but it's hardly even a DECENT gaming platform for more than 30 minute sessions. So...
This. They're great devices. The PS1 Classics alone are enough to keep someone gaming for years and many of them really are true classics. And the PSP is a great entertainment device, movies, music, comics, the whole nine yards. Such a great little system. My kids LOVE theirs to bits and I've had one myself since day one!
@raztad: Agreed. You could easily dismiss MOH, COD, Fallout 3, Red Dead Redemption, etc, as "ports" on the PS3if you were dumb enough to buy into the idea that we're only counting *original* titles as "good" titles on a system.
Since when has has having a great title ported to a platform a bad thing? That's a stupid ass rule.
Also, a lot of games for the PSP like the AC, MGS Peace Walker, Ys Seven, Persona 3, Army of Two, Phantasy ...
If you think the MP feels like BC just because it is using the same engine you are f*cked in the head. The play style, pacing, and mechanics are TOTALLY different. BC2 is a MILLION times more tactical. This leans much more toward COD style combat and some modes are absolute sniper-fests.
No worries man. It's a fun game. It doesn't SUCK. It's just not the World beater some people were looking for.
I dig it quite a bit so far. I think the SP campaign is very good and the MP is decent (although, it feels like it had more potential than it realized and I had expected more from DICE). As noted, if you go PS3, having a classic Ps2 game remixed in HD is a sweet little value addition, too.
If you're a big FPS fan it's definitely worth it. I think the 7.5-8.5 range reviews are pretty accurate. It's definitely NOT a 9 or 10 game for me.
For people w...
Looks like MAG in third person, actually. No surprise. I think people ragged on MAG for GFX unfairly. I always felt the look was just fine and never really detracted from the game play. It wasn't cutting edge like MW2 or KZ2 but it was definitely good enough for current gen hardware and didn't get in the way.
Really, I've been playing MAG since day one and a lot of MAG regulars in my time slot are ginormous tools, too. Zipper seems good at designing team/tactical military games that really attract a loyal cult following and a lot of these guys take themselves way too seriously.
There are some really great/nice dudes too but the a-holes can leave you feeling bitter about everyone sometimes.
Stop being a wuss. Used games are good for the industry, it's not like piracy. People trade in used games and preorder new games all day long at gamestop, I always trade in old for new when I do trade-ins, they don't give you hardly anything unless you take in store credit on another purchase.
By buying a used copy you are helping to fund the buying of new games and getting a good deal on something you never would have purchased otherwise. There is nothing morally wro...
The first MW campaign was epically awesome. IMHO.
It had the second best FPS campaign ending ever (first is Lucasarts Outlaws, go look it up).
That's why it's stupid to buy a game like this day one. Wait a year and buy the GotY or complete edition with all the DLC, all the patches, and a lower price.
There are lots of great games that have either just come out or are coming out for the holiday season that will not be a bug riddled train wreck.
