With the NGP packing serious hardware it might have a more solid niche as a gaming handheld than the 3DS which will probably end up being targeted to children too young to own a cell phone, since adults already have phones that are perfectly decent casual gaming devices.

The 3D is gimmicky and the machine feels a lot like another iteration of the DS when you are playing around with it. I have $150 credit at Gamestop and went down there to check it out with the intention of maybe buying it if it was amazing and didn't even bother to pick one up for $100.

Same here, I've played pieces of every GoW game here and there and own the HD PS3 collection and I keep telling myself I have to experience this whole trilogy from front to back but I always get interrupted during the first one at some point. LOL.
I'm not going to play them out of order so I guess, I'll just have to lock myself inside for a week or two at some point in my life and knock out all three of them.

LOL. Warlords wasn't an RPG, it was an arcade game with four spinners. It was like a multiplayer version of breakout.
While, I think the Duke character tends to appeal to people who are immature, I see nothing inherently wrong with portraying a character as "sexist" if it makes sense in the context of the game/story. There are lots of games/novels/movies where the protagonist is a murderer/criminal/psycho and commits crimes that are much more morally reprehensible than mere misogyny and no one considers it an endorsement of those beliefs, attitudes, or actions.

Yeah, the hardware looks phenomenal on new devices, but the software and distribution parameters for the next handheld gen is hardly fleshed out enough to call whether we're entering a "golden age" or if all going to end up iXXX devices with lame casual games and true hardcore gaming via handheld is going to get better or worse. I'm hoping the NGP is a blockbuster but we'll see... the pricing and software will be critical.
To be honest, I'm disappointed it's coming out at all. It's much better as a cautionary tale/meme than it ever will be as yet another console FPS in this gen.

Actually, I have two of the original DN action figures and the original looks quite a bit better than that one, IMHO. That one's face looks disfigured, IMHO.
The environment rendering looks flat out amazing but all the characters look like they're made out of latex or something. And this is with 3 PC GFX cards? It's cool but they have their work cut out for them.
