While it has architectural advantages that make is stronger in some ways, it's 2TF weaker than Xbox One X, on par with PS4 Pro... which is a puzzling decision. It will definitely bottleneck multiplatform games. Shame...

Xbox One X is 4 times as powerful as Xbox One S (6TF vs. 1.4). That isn't saying much.

My guess is $500 for the core system, $400 for the discless PS5.

It took them almost a generation to get the best, most innovative, and most ambitious play/create/share game ever made.

Not to mention the missing exclusives... the reason people buy consoles to begin with.

Considering that these cards won't be fully taken advantage of for years (there isn't a big enough install base for developers to set the bar that high, they still have to target mid-range cards, which are roughly equivalent to the consoles), it'll be near the end of this generation before developers really start to make the 30xx series break a sweat.

Media Molecule are currently among Sony's top developers, even if they aren't taking in top cash. Those who don't own Dreams are really missing out, especially owners of PlayStation VR.

Shameless Plug: Play my VR game in dreams, "We Bowling in VR!" or my other non-VR game, "Missile Commander"!

Wart technically isn't even a mario character, since SMB2 was technically Doki Doki Panic with Mario characters swapped in.

The difference is it has a faster CPU, but lower overall teraflops than the PS4 Pro (3.8 vs Pro's 4.2), it won't support 4K at all, and as such will basically be weaker than the Xbox One X.

As far as anyone knows now, PS5's discless model is exactly the same hardware as the disc-based PS5.

If the above pans out to be true, it was a huge mistake on MS' part.

It would be fake if there wasn't a real deficit in black action heroes in cinema, games, and comics... but it is something that needs to be addressed, so I'm glad to see people addressing it. Black kids need heroes to look up to as well, people that look like them and come from the same culture. Same goes for Asians, Native Americans, Indians, etc. (and not being portrayed in offensively stereotypical ways).

The problem is, we have been saying "getting more he...

The salt is real, drawing a comparison to a competitor is valid conversation... whining about people drawing such comparisons just because you didn't want to hear it is not.

Let's not all get cocky and jump to premature conclusions here... These game console developers have a right to get testy over people creating penis tracks. It's low hanging fruit... and children could result.. I mean be insulted or exposed to things their young eyes should never see. There are stiff penalties in place for people who do that intentionally, so there's good reason to get upset about people taking such a hard stance on the freedom of expression when it comes to thrus...

It's also possible that they can take less dramatic approaches, like sampling the ray tracing at a lower resolution (or using fewer iterations which will make it look more "grainy"), using dynamic resolution that changes with the needs of the scene, etc. Temporal injection is another cool option, use info from the game engine to help guess and then reconstruct which frame should come next, and then let it just render every other frame.

Actually, the fastest PC HDD on the market I can currently find is 6500MBps, still a far cry short of PS5's 8-9GBps.

The first title that shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that it can only be achieved on a system with a HDD as fast as PS5's (currently the fastest on the market, even in the PC world, the fastest NVME PCI-E 4.0 drives I can find on the market top out at 5gbps), which means that for the first time in my memory, a console is being released that can do things that a PC game couldn't, even on the best rig out there. Obviously this won't be the case for long, I expect to see PC NVME SDD...

I doubt it will, it'll probably be the same system, just cheaper.

Like I said, a battery pack on the waist with a small wire connecting them would solve any weight issues, but other battery powered VR headsets don't get complaints about being too heavy, so I think this will be ok. As for latency, 3ms is what wifi6 is supposed to be capable of. That's 333 possible frames per second, far above what VR requires.

Not to mention, there's maybe 1000 visible in that scene, if that.

2119d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Well, if that were true, Tempest Engine would solve that, but with every controller having a mic array built in, there really isn't a need for a headset with a mic.

2119d ago 2 agree5 disagreeView comment

If the latency is low enough, there really isn't a difference other than the weight of the battery, which can be attached via a separate belt pack if you need something big. Not having to worry about tripping over the cord would be great.
