PS5 Tenchu is a dream for me.
If you need any of these tips, don't ever try VR.
You can sell cheap burgers made of preservative-laced garbage and dumb people will buy them. You can't sell garbage games for the same price as everyone else and make it, so your analogy doesn't fit.
They've been investing (and losing) billions for nearly 2 decades. Throwing more money at it isn't going to fix their problem.
It isn't just one of the best VR platformers, it's easily one of the best platformers, but it really does showcase how VR can be used to enhance a platformer beyond what could ever be done on a flat screen. The way the level takes place on all sides, around and above you, the way you can interact with the world around you (not just Astro, but you yourself), the way they utilize the features of the controller... nothing else comes close.
Astro's VR game is still to this day one of the best ever made for the format, and easily the best, mario-quality platformer available in VR. It showed how VR could not only make those games look cool, but provide gameplay opportunities simply not possible on a flat screen (you could try, but it would be an annoyingly unplayable mess with the camera issues you'd face). Not to mention it making you a physical presence in the game, able to headbutt objects and such.
That sucks that Evolution Studios went from promising Sony exclusive developer to Codemasters gurus to working for EA, now all their talent and hard work will be buried under microtransactions.
This is only true on multiplat games where the ps5's ssd speed advantage isn't utilized. If it were possible to load up ratchet and clank on both systems, it would tell a far different tale.
Apple is also working with the gaming software and hardware industry to ensure no gamer ever takes their platform seriously.
I've always preferred a controller in PC games, even FPS games, where I do a hybrid approach of holding the controller in my left hand to control movement (pressing the analog in is my "`use/enter" button, L1 and L2 are crouch/jump, and I use the D pad to switch weapons, while holding the mouse in my right hand to aim. I've been playing that way since Unreal Tournament 2004.
I love how Astro has become the new PS console mascot. A perfect match. Cute, high tech, innovative, punching and stomping all in their path.
Add to that the ability to scan PSN for what games you've played, your trophies, when you play most often, enabling your playstation camera or mic... there's so many more ways that the fourth wall can be broken now, a psycho mantis battle could be made truly epic today.
Haptic Feedback... bring it. I'd take VR support too.

That with this haptic feedback tech would be awesome.
I highly doubt they replaced all the assets with next gen features... you might get higher res shadows, maybe better global illumination, and faster frame rate, but I wouldn't expect much more beyond that. The game looks mind blowing as-is, though.
Perhaps it was planned to be a launch title before COVID hit.
The same reason they always say never pick a fight with the quiet kid...
This isn't quick resume, this is loading a game fresh, and there's other games on PS5 that load even faster.
I love mine, especially for VR. Getting to enjoy all my games in above 1080p (sometimes true) 4K in HDR has been great.
