This really shows just how much trouble Kotick is in... This is like a 9.0 earthquake in the industry, you don't just go talking trash publicly (or even commenting at all) about a CEO of one of the world's biggest gaming publishers when you're the owner of the world's best selling consoles, unless you mean business... Sony seems to be throwing their weight behind his resignation, be it voluntary or not. Activision shareholders are sure to take notice of this.
It depends on how much fallout this article generates... the more people outraged, the more money lost, the more shareholders will join their ranks calling for his head. Even Sony is commenting on his actions, you don't want to piss off the owners of the platform that makes up the majority of your console install base. I imagine behind the scenes, there are phone calls taking place between some very powerful people in various companies about him. For every 1 word against him spoken public...
it's about damn time they realized the damage he is doing to their bottom line. They would have made SO much more money without his antics.
They had one job... there's a vibrant community of GTA modders out there that have all released mods that blow this remaster out of the water, and instead of hiring them, and making those mods official, they hire these guys on to slap some overpriced garbage together. Same with GTA5, there's mods out there that are better than any remaster R* has ever released on any system.
The 64GB model runs over $6000... and to enjoy any benefit of having unified memory, you'd need to get that model, otherwise the unified memory is just a bottleneck with no benefit over a PC GPU that has its own pool of dedicated VRAM (that runs faster), the hardware deficiencies are still very much an issue, GPUs are very bandwidth hungry, and making them share less bandwdith than a RTX3080 has with the CPU is not going to bode well for gaming.
Because only a fool would spend $6000 on a laptop that is weaker than a $2500 3080RTX laptop. 400gbps shared memory for both CPU and GPU? GTFO
What a clown, lol... Sell that PS5 to me, so you can enjoy playing all the games I'll be playing on it several years later, while I'm playing their sequels.
All this being done with severe supply restrictions making PS5 nearly impossible to find...
On the other hand, you still can't find PS5's anywhere, so their sales are being restricted by lack of supply.
Back in the PS3 era, there were free game demos for almost every game... now it's rare to find one.
That said, we have game reviews, we have the internet, it isn't difficult to find out if a game sucks or not.
I pose this question... if such a thing is permissible in a game because it's "just a game", at what point do we draw the line as to what isn't? Is rape permissible? is harming children in any way imaginable (physically, mentally, sexually, etc) permissible as long as it is done virtually? I'm against most forms of censorship myself, but I can't help but question exactly where we draw the line here, and who gets to draw that line.
You guys are grasping at straws to try to prove a pointless point...
461 million consoles sold. Even if we remove 2/3 of those due to broken consoles, or the same person buying more than one, we still have well over 150 million consoles sold.... not single digits, not tens, but into the hundreds of millions of consoles sold.
There's hundreds of millions of playstation gamers out there no matter how you cut it.
where do you draw the line as to what is acceptable in a virutal world? Is it ok to harm virtual children in any way imaginable?
Um... if PS5 holds true to those sales numbers, it will be near half a billion consoles sold to hundreds of millions of people by the time this gen is over.
PS1: Sells 102.5 million units
PS2: Sells 155 million units
PS3: Sells 87.5 million units
PS4: Sells 116 million units
Jim Ryan: "I wish hundreds of millions of people could enjoy our games."
One day they'll catch up to Dual Sense. Then maybe they can start making games for it.
"What else can we do to keep selling them old stuff and not have to develop a new game?"
There are very big differences between the two, however... Hollywood has a long history of excluding POC and casting white people in their roles instead (I finally got around to watching the new Mortal Kombat movie last night, and man did it feel good to not see a cheesy white guy with an obvious wig playing Raiden!), the opposite is not true... so it's an apples to oranges comparison. We're starting to move beyond that now, which is great, but the history of Hollywood doing that is s...
(From someone who produces HDR content for a living.)
Pros: Dolby Vision is technically superior to HDR 10 and HDR10+. It utilizes (up to) 12 bit color, which means over 60 billion possible colors (vs. 16.7 million on your average SDR TV and 1.04 billion for 10 bit formats like HDR10). It also supports per-scene metadata changes, so you can set the TV's settings differently per-scene to achieve the best results (HDR10+ can do this as well.) How well that will work in a ...
If Sony finds themselves in a position where supporting Kotick comes across as supporting his actions, you can bet they will put as much pressure on him to leave as they can... and the shareholders do only care about money, the money that will dry up when people start shying away from their company over Kotick's actions. This is sending Tsunami sized ripples through the industry. The shareholders are taking notice, and watching their wallets closely. If one dollar comes out of those due t...
