so, looks like our speculation about a possible blu-ray drive just got a little more support... this could get interesting.
their 1080 streaming thing is crap though, as it is only 1080p if your bandwidth STAYS above a certain point, if it falls below 5mbps at all, the stream lowers in quality. so at times, you may not even be getting hd at all.
Blu-Ray would be very advantageous for them, as it would complete 360 as a media center. it would also be very advantageous for sony, making the royalties on almost 2x the sales of blu-ray movies as a result.
I'm starting to think it might have been a better idea to market it as a new name, but who knows.
If I remember right, it will take a firmware update for ps3 to see more than 320GB's, but that might be old info. they may have changed that since then.
That was how I saw it. It just seemed unlikely. While there isn't direct confirmation from Microsoft or Ryan Geiss, XE getting that response supported my thoughts on that not being a mistake, so I believe it.

A slimline 360, with a natal camera built directly into the console, a blu-ray drive, new coolant system, 80GB hard drive, and built in wifi would pose a serious threat to the ps3.
actually, xbox 360 arcade units cannot play all of forza 3 without a hard drive. it's getting to the point to where the "gimped" nature of the lower end 360 models is becoming very apparent. now they're actually locking those guys out from playing certain games properly.
damn soda pop, talk about living in the past...ps3 has had rumble for some time. it's standard now. As for HD cables, add $20 for a hdmi cable and be done with it. 360 is still more expensive in the end.
arnon, my ps3 was a launch unit, back when they were selling for thousands on ebay, that's why it cost what it did.
as for wifi, it's the only connection option many people have with their gaming setups, so that's why i consider it. i actually get a decent connection...

I don't understand why they started hyping natal before it was even ready to be shown. orange jumpsuits, bam! there it isn't, lag... natal isn't looking too hot right now, so they should have waited rather than hyping everyone up, going all over tv, and then making the world wait a year and a half before they actually try the dang thing.
Actually, I wound up saving some. I paid a little over $700 for a PS3, extra controller, and one game. in that package I got my controller charger, hard drive, online, wifi... I won't even count blu-ray into the mix.
To get that on 360, I would have had to pay:
$400 (for a unit with a smaller 20GB hard drive)
$100 for a wifi adapter
Around $200 for a few years of Live!
$50 for another controller
$30 for a controller charger
$60 for a ga...
As for if it's a typo, we'll know the answer to that very soon...
And I can't help but wonder how much this thing will cost, coming from a company that nickle and dimes it's customers to death with $150 hard drives, $100 wifi adapters, $50 a year pay to play online, $30 controller chargers... heck, even their crappy webcam costs $40. All things considered, I'd be very shocked to see this sell for under $70, with the bundle costing at least $300 with a 20GB HDD (unless they gimp it with no HDD).
This thing isn't even going to see the light of day for 1.5 years... bear that in mind. ps3's motion controller is only months away, so it and it's games will have a huge head start. developers already have finalized hardware (well, save for the button layout, that is still being tweaked) that actually works right and doesn't glitch or lag like natal does, so as of now ps3's motion controller is doing a lot better than natal is. we'll see better games first on ps3's setup because of this. sam...
I wouldn't get your hopes up for that 1tb drive, they just are not practical at the moment (unless you want the complaining about too expensive consoles to switch from ps3 to 360, as ps3 will be getting a price cut and a natal bundle with a 1tb drive would get a huge price spike).
If microsoft can keep the xbox's running long enough...

Don't think that just because they might toss a 1TB drive in there that it will eliminate the DVD9 limit. It will help, but in the end you are still having to deal with higher manufacturing costs, as well as those licensing fees and such per disc. Microsoft, even with a 1TB drive, doesn't want games coming on more than 2-3 DVD's. That will prove too annoying for the consumer with them having to do several very long installs just to play the game, and it will further gimp the arcade 360's out ...
well, the 1tb rumor is fake, but the xbox 360+ with a possible blu-ray drive so far is starting to look like it could be true. read the dude's messages in the article updates.
