It's graphics vary, but I do agree they are among the best I've seen. There's some spots, like the trailer showing off the ship hangars, where the aliasing and lighting/texture flicker can make the scene look rough, but all in all it is a fantastic looking game and definitely one of the best games to make use of high end PCs.

I got a good laugh from that title. I dunno, maybe they're busy playing games?

This is definitely one of the best looking games of the generation that has been revealed, and the best so far to release in my opinion. No other game has nailed that global illumination look so well. I render visuals in Cinema 4D a lot for my job as a video projection mapping artist, and I know in order to get that kind of lighting quality in offline, non-real time renders, it takes a lot of time to render lighting that looks anywhere near that good.

To see Kojima roll out ...

Yes, but such is what happens when you are minority. If the sales are not there to justify support, the support will go elsewhere. Sony sees potential for Move to take off again with Morpheus, so they will support it there, but they didn't with traditional games. You can't fault them for knowing when something isn't working and doing something about it.

The market moved away from motion control just as fast as it latched onto it.

We've all seen the game, and it looks amazing. Easily one of the best looking games coming to any system. As such, a demo on X1 should also look amazing, even if not running at the same resolution and framerate as PS4 or PC.

Just because a system may have to scale things back to run an amazing looking game, it isn't always going to be enough of a scaleback to keep it from looking amazing.

We all know Blu-Ray HD, or even broadcast HD, is far better tha...

Where did you come up with the 99.99% metric?

I don't see what the big deal is... Diablo 3 is a 2.5D isometric game that never even pushed high end PCs to their limits when it launched long ago, and definitely doesn't even push the consoles of today all that hard. We're not talking visuals on the level of P.T., Driveclub, Withcer 3, etc...

@dynasty, that depends on what quality visuals are being rendered at that resolution and frame rate. Visuals like Driveclub at 1080p30, yes, amazing. Visuals like mario 64 at 1080p30, not so much. 1080p or 30fps is not a benchmark for visual quality, it is nothing more than the resolution the images are drawn at and how often. Those frames could be simple, blocky PS1 graphics being drawn at that res/rate, or they could borderline being lifelike.

They built a calculator in LBP, now a hard drive in Minecraft... you've got your processor and storage.

A remarkably close port. The kinda odd looking JJ Abrams style moon flare was missing in the PS4 port, but that was about it. Textures, poly counts, and lighting (other than what I mentioned before, and that is likely a post-processing effect so not actual lighting) all seem to be intact.

P.T. had a minute or so if you managed to beat it, so I doubt it.

There are several clues spread throughout the game that reveal what you are supposed to do, or at least hint at it. In the end, the solution makes sense. If you want that damn phone to ring, you're going to want it to be able to hear you when you answer it (don't forget how Kojima likes to play, think Psycho Mantis)... Then it's just a matter of exploring and patience (especially patience) to get the rest of it.

I'm glad to see a game that makes you work, espe...

Some people (you) may call it passion... I'm sure Kojima would call... the cops.

PS3 version confirmed :P

Joking aside, the comment could just be in regards to the fact that PS4 is a relatively new system with a small install base compared to the entire pool of console gamers, most of which currently consists of previous gen console owners.

There's like 3-4 jumpscares in the entire demo. The real horror comes from not knowing what is coming, or when, or how... the constant threat that looms. When it reveals itself, it isn't always in the form of a "boo!" moment. Sometimes it is much more subtle, but equally creepy. as well as figuring out the story and the breaking of the fourth wall. You obviously never played it.

In fact, one of my biggest "creepy moments" came AFTER a jump scare (...

I actually enjoyed the fact that we gamers had to work together as a community to solve the game, through trial and error, before we finally nailed down the solution. I also like that that solution involved a hardware device, much like Psycho Mantis.

This isn't just a tech demo, you are doing yourself a disservice by ignoring it. It's actually very well put together.

I don't care what platform it is on as long as being on more than one does not reduce the amazing visual quality of this game. It has some of the best in-game lighting ever seen, so as long as they can release on more consoles without compromising the visuals on the more powerful system, I'm all for it. Since Fox Engine is a multiplatform engine, I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to just downscale things a little bit to run on different hardware architectures.

You can build a $600-800 PC that has a better CPU and GPU than what you'll find in a $400 console.

However... Not every game is going to be optimized to make the most of that hardware, and performance from one game to the next will vary greatly. You may have the wrong kind of video card, and that game you just bought may run better on the other brand of cards. Your game may be poorly ported and requires a monster CPU to get decent performance (GTA4 was a good example of t...
