I've been calling it for a while now... Nintendo has moved development of their biggest titles to the new platform, which is why so many key Wii U games are MIA. They know Wii U is a sinking ship and they are getting ready for the next battle instead. Smart of them to do in my opinion.
They also have the right idea of timing. If they launch their console mid-generation, it enables them to create one that will be more powerful than the current gen consoles for a year or t...
I bet this is why Metroid was a no-show, and why there still isn't a proper 3d mario game for Wii U. Development focus for the major AAA games is shifting to NX. They're bailing on Wii U. They realized that to have average power hardware, you need to have stellar quality software, and they weren't ready for this generation. It took them too long to get their biggest titles ready, and now Wii U is beginning to show its age against the newer consoles. It makes more sense for them to...
This had me more excited than any other piece of hardware I've ever seen from Microsoft. However, with this news and the reports of it costing as much as a console, no go for me. I'll wait until they get the tech down. Still cool to see a glimpse of the future though.
"I haven't walked the floor, so I can't say in terms of what's on the floor today, but at least based on what I've seen to date, it's not fun, and it's not social. It's just tech."
With what he's seen to date being Virtua Boy...
PAYlo 5
MGS also doesn't have anywhere near the physics computations going on. U4 easily has some of the best physics I've ever seen.

MP takes place in small arenas compared to the wide open areas of the SP campaign, so no... it doesn't mean MP will look worse.
Doesn't matter... taking any budget or time away from a proper metroid game to make spinoffs only makes the real thing take longer or makes it lower quality. Nintendo's resources are finite, so even if they have a lot of them, the gamers want metroid yesterday.
I'm really starting to think these AAA games are getting development shifted to the NX so it can launch with big name games early on. that was a big mistake they made with wii u, rushed hardware out long be...
Nintendo is letting it die silently so they can shift development focus to NX.
Can't hate on them... money and resources are being diverted into these projects that could be spent making a proper Metroid game.
Sony seems to disagree...
Sony likely wanted to gauge market reaction from the kickstarter before agreeing to further fund and publish it. Both previous shenmue games together didn't top 2 million in sales, so you can't blame them. Smart business move if you ask me.
Your loss... And you might as well give up gaming because this is going to become much more common going forward.
I just hope they don't screw it up... And I also know that no matter what they do, there will be purists who will blast them for doing it anyway. Kinda like how there are still people listening to Vinyl despite it being technically inferior to HD digital audio.
The first 2 games didn't exactly fly off the shelves (I think Shenmue only had like 1.2 million sales.), and to do a proper next gen version of shenmue would require a massive budget for such an unproven (sales wise) franchise. By launching it with a kickstarter, the devs can mitigate the risk of making a third game and will likely still get a decent sum to make the game console exclusive on PS4.
They finally recaptured the intense feel of the first 2 games while offering all kinds of cool new upgrades to the gameplay. I liked Doom 3, but this looks like it brings back everything I loved so much about the first 2.
This looks like some hastily thrown together response to something they deem a threat. A stop-gap solution until they can get a new console out that can actually handle good VR. Makes me wonder what Sony plans on showing at E3.
This is so awesome! I can sit in my room playing video games and it looks like I'm sitting in another room playing video games!
"This is what we call "Third person VR". We don't put you in the game. We put you in a VR room that you play your game in. A truly innovative approach to VR."
Yo dawg, I heard you like playing video games, so we put you playing your video games into a video game!
XO can't handle real VR, plain and simple. Good to know there's potential in the PC space, however, for better rift support and potential windows integration. Plus, if they form a good partnership with Oculus now, when the next console launches, they can build it with VR in mind.
These partnerships are for PC gaming, MS wants a piece of the entire PC VR market.
Xbox One struggles to hit 1080p on one screen... as well as hitting high resolutions at high frame rates which is required by VR (32mb of ESRAM isn't a big enough frame buffer when you have to render everything in HD twice at 60-90fps). So, that is why that pathetic demo of being able to play Forza projected onto the wall of a virtual living room is the only VR on Xbox One example we've...
