So XBL's argument to defend Xbox One's inferior resolution is to point out that someone willing to shell out $2000 on a PC capable of running all of the latest games at 4k and any respectable frame rate can enjoy 4x (not 3x) the resolution?
I haven't seen anyone here saying 4k isn't much of a big deal compared to 1080p. It's rather obvious that 400% more pixels is going to be way sharper. That is almost the difference from SD to HD. However, $2000 is a big...
When your console has a memory bottleneck that makes VR extremely difficult, of course you hope it doesn't catch on.
I'd like them to explain why the hell they must give each KH game such a nonsense subtitle.
"Kingdom Hearts 8+2x3=920.3.14: Waking Slumber of the Eternal Popsicle"
PS4 is an ASYNC compute beast. That is why they added in the 50% more compute cores and 6 extra ACE's, enabling 48 more compute queues than Xbox One with its 16. Mark Cerny knew compute was going to be what sealed the deal, since the GPU was average grade and the CPU wasn't anything to write home about. Lets see how that bet pays off...
Keep in mind that the PS4 didn't launch at much of a loss, and is likely profitable now especially after a hardware revision. So, they have some room to take a financial hit to gain even more market share. It would pay off for them in the software sales sector, as well as giving them room to promote their other services, like PSN's movie rentals, PSNow, PSVue, etc.
Even if they only broke even or even took a loss on each console after cutting the price worldwide, tha...
sometimes the simplest choice is the best choice.
They may pull the trigger on the rest of the world too, but only if they see a threat from Xbox One. As of now, Xbox One only stands to pull ahead in America during the last 3 months of the year... and that's only a maybe. Worldwide, it's still very much Sony's game. So, while it is possible we might see a price cut outside of Japan, it's not needed and therefore is doubtful.
If they were smart, next gen would be where windows and xbox are totally unified, and you buy one game for both platforms and it scales just like PC games already do. Like a steam machine, but with the brand recognition of windows behind it.
Wait, was that a glimmer of intelligence among this sea of idiocy? Thanks! I was beginning to lose hope in mankind. I don't know how many times both MS and well respected developers have put this garbage to rest, people will still cling to every last word they can from websites of ill repute that gives this secret sauce myth any possible hope.
to an extent. you can see some limitations, like how when the wiper blades swipe them to the side of the windshield, the water fades away rather than staying on the glass like in DC.
Bogus list. Includes indies they claimed to exclude and also includes dynamic resolution games that aren't true 1080p. Also, those of you saying "I'd take 900p with better framerate"... many of the 900p games have terrible framerates also (Ryse, for instance, or witcher 3 with its screen tearing on the 900p xbox one version due to lack of v-sync, despite having a slightly higher framerate at parts).
"That is a loss for PS4 gamers my opinion, because 900...
sales disagree...
You can fit many times more data on a sd based memory card than you can a dual layer blu-Ray, with faster transfer speeds and the ability to write content like game updates directly onto the card. Perhaps it is time gamers returned to cartridges. It'll cost more to make (a lot more), but the performance advantage is worth it to me. you can get a lot more bandwidth by caching some data to hdd, some to ram, and stream the rest at higher speeds from the card.
The only quest...
Same excuse we heard for Wii.
War Thunder launched with cross play for pc/ps4, so did warframe iirc.
@moldy, an app is all Sony would need to do it if they wanted to, doesn't have to be built into the o.s. Sony could partner with steam (wouldn't be the first time) to break into the pc space if it ever became a threat... But as of now it isn't.
Also, krypt, Sony is a Japanese company. Nice try, but epic troll fail.
I'll never forget how amazed I was to shine a flashlight in the mirror in p.t. and see that it actually reflected the light itself, not just my image.
Put your money where your mouth is, let's see a list of those "half" you can buy for your overhyped, overpriced phone.
This is what I said that they should have done long ago. Like Valve attempted to do with the Steam machine, make Xbox and PC cross compatible. Then the install base isn't just the consoles, but millions of PCs as well, which makes devs happy, and the games are hardware scalable, which makes gamers happy. It's a win-win.
@V With an ignorant and foolish comment like that, it's quite obvious you don't even own a PS4.
Cloud computing can't enable 1080p. It can enable better physics, some better lighting effects (though laggy, and odd looking as a result, with shadows lagging behind light sources), AI, but when it comes to rendering the actual image to the screen, the GPU demands latency that is FAR FAR FAR lower than what even the best internet connections in the world can offer, and bandwidth that is far higher than the best connections in the world. Xbox One's RAM doesn't have the bandwidth r...
