All last gen people hated on them for not building a solid online community and gaming platform. This gen they focus updates solely on doing just that, and they get hated on for folders and notifications.
While I do agree it is stupid of them to ignore such a highly requested feature for so long, some of these community features are starting to come in handy. Making PSN a formidable opponent to Xbox Live has obviously been a top priority, and they also seem to be looking for ...
one day... greatness will come one day. until then, lets just ignore that silly advantage...
I wore out the thumbstick on my DS4 to the point where A) the rubber was peeling off (thankfully they fixed that issue with later controllers) and B) The left analog stick would jerk... if you held it up and to the left, you could see your cursor on the destiny menu screen move in that direction, then jerk down, resume back up/left, jerk down, etc.... eventually it became unplayable with the random jerky movement getting the player killed.
All controllers wear out if you pla...
"I've been telling folks for years that its not based on system, its based on developers choice... if they want 1080p 60fps, its not hard to do,DICE just wants something else. "
You have no idea what you are talking about. The developers have to work within the limitations of the hardware. Otherwise, developers would just "choose" to make all PS3/360 games 1080p at 60fps, since it's "not hard". PS4 couldn't do 1080p at that visual fid...
@suckingeggs, VR headsets in general are priced in the $300-500 range, and I don't expect Morpheus to be an exception for the whole kit (camera and move controllers included). However, I do see Sony subsidizing it if you buy a PS4 with the kit as a bundle, maybe for $450-500
@crashbandicoot
Halo's sales have been in decline... as this graph of the sales of the highest selling halo games shows.
http://portcitymediaproduct...
This doesn't even factor that Halo 5 is launching on a system with a much smaller install base than Halo 4 did, so the drop from 4 to 5 in sales should be significant.
Yeah. Great job Microsoft! /s
with that video card alone costing as much as a console. I know, I just bought one.
Because there is a big difference between trolling and using facts to mock something. Trolls tend to avoid those fact thingies...
The fact is, we've been hearing about supposed remedies to this problem for years now, and the sub 1080p games just keep on coming with no end in sight. The time has come to quit chasing that rainbow.
Wipeout on PS3 ran at 1080p60 dynamic too. One of the first games to use dynamic resolution, actually. Halo 5's scales down to around 720p resolution at high action scenes, and can only handle one screen doing that at a time. Not that impressive compared to other FPS games, even killzone's multiplayer mode managed better than that (also dynamic, but maintained a higher resolution due to its frame blending process), and with better graphics while doing it... and that was a launch title...
It's ok folks, DX12 is coming. So is the cloud. One day. I hear it'll be great.
Just like Sony had to "Move forward" with rumble last gen when they couldn't do it... The box couldn't do split screen with good visuals, so they have to try to paint it as something that is "in the past" or "obsolete".
and the consumer model is going to need an enhanced field of view before people are going to take it seriously, which will add even more cost.
I wouldn't expect to see this in the hands of consumers for anything less than $500-600. That's being generous, it may be even higher. It does its own processing on board, so it in effect is its own system. One that comes bundled with kinect sensors and a holographic-like display.
I also wouldn't expect to ...
@4show
Sony owns a chunk of Blu-Ray, CD, and DVD. They get royalties for each. MS owns VC1 and WMV/WMA, both of which are in PS3 and PS4 (not sure about the latter with PS4, but PS3 does support it)... and now one of many physics middleware options.
End point, both pay each other for various technologies that they own patents for.
This move doesn't really strengthen their position in the console war, as there are other physics middleware ...
The cable issue won't be sorted for years. You just can't do extremely low latency wireless yet, not with the bandwidth needed to feed a screen 2 1080p images, or even 2 half 1080p images, at up to 120fps. That is the reason why all of them still use cables. If they went wireless with current technology, you'd get motion sickness from the lag.
You aren't getting a top of the line VR kit for $150... that thing will cost them a minimum of $200-300 per headset (remember they have to bundle more than just the headset itself), and you can bet it'll sell for at least that much if not $300-400.
Looks like 1.5mbps video attempting to pass itself off as "HD".
That's probably why it doesn't have it, which is a shame. They basically took a Vita's guts and put it in a little box. Thing is, Vita's screen isn't HD. So, this box isn't designed for it. It maxes out at 1080i resolution.
At this point, I'm not going to support them no matter what they do. They have proven their fan base means nothing to them.
Xbox Live is going to replace Xbox as a console. They realize that after 3 generations, they still couldn't turn a single dime of profit off of Xbox hardware, and instead lost billions. Their investors/shareholders have been calling for the Xbox brand to be spun off, but this seems to be the alternative they are taking. Ditch the hardware, keep the games and services, focus on PC and maybe expanding to other consoles (for the games at least, I don't see Nintendo or Sony letting Xbox L...
