The equivalent screen size will likely be huge in vr, so those 2 million pixels are going to be scaled much larger than they would be if viewing them on your TV, which would make it look less detailed, but larger. Same resolution, less pixel density due to perceived size.
The Xbox One struggles enough as it is with 2D to maintain resolution and frame rate parity with PS4. In the VR world, where everything has to be rendered from 2 viewpoints for each eye, those resolution and frame rate differences are going to be much more obvious... and as we all know dropping ANY frames in VR can make you sick, so resolution is always going to get the axe. It doesn't make sense for Microsoft to try to compete with Sony here. They would be wiser to begin work on the next...
I got rocket league for free, they don't need to step anything up. I play that game more than any other.
This is the worst decision Sony has made in a long time. Evolution had a lot of very good talent and franchises that made Sony many millions of dollars. Driveclub turned into one of PS4's best games despite its launch.
As long as the original PS4 can play every game that comes out on the upgraded one natively, I see no problem with it. I'd like to have the choice of running all of my PS4 games at a higher resolution and framerate if I want to.
Looks like they've figured out how to upload one's consciousness into a robot, and these people are just waking up after having their minds uploaded into these new robot bodies, which is why you see the main character start to go insane and bash himself out of the robot's head. Mental rejection of the new host body, much like we have to deal with physical rejection when doing organ or limb transplants.
There's actually a good bit of research going on to see i...
They managed to make Driveclub run at a solid 60 for VR, and while i'm sure there were some obvious visual differences, that's a pretty impressive feat none the less.
Any game can hit 60fps on PS4, it's just a matter of which sacrifices the dev is willing to make in order to hit that target. How low do you make the native resolution? How much do you turn down shadow and lighting detail? Do you use dynamic resolution? These are all things the devs will have to look at when deciding how to make their game. On PS4, they are not required to hit 60, so if they want to turn settings way up and drop to 30, they can. PSVR won't be as detailed in-game, but ...
@ darth
PS4's camera sees at faster frame rates at higher resolutions (720p per lens vs. 640x480x1 lens), and it has 2 cameras so it can see in stereoscopic 3d. this gives it a VERY superior ability vs. ps3 eye to do motion tracking of the headset and controllers.
Yeah, sony just sold their hope of maintaining exclusivity, so there isn't much faith from them invested in this title obviously.
MAttE,
It has the option to run at native 120hz or reprojected 120hz, the developer chooses.
You're griping over a camera that can be picked up for $30-60, which will be sold in a bundle that hasn't been priced yet, but definitely won't come in over $500 and will likely include a move controller as well and at least one game. This, when the Oculus costs a minimum of $100 more if you already happen to have a PC worth more than $1k.
Grasping at straws. The price isn't ideal on either platform, but VR is expensive. I commend Sony for getting it down to ...
Cookies would be nice.
If they were wise, they'd take a small hit on bundling it with a console to try to get new adopters on board. This is especially true for those who won't be getting into VR for gaming reasons, but for other social interaction or entertainment applications. $800 is a steep entry point for new users.
I called the delay a few days ago, and nobody believed me. I knew when we got half way through the first half of the year that it wouldn't launch within the first half. October works for me though, plus it makes more sense since it is closer to the holidays.
Neither version looks anywhere near as good as the first gameplay shown.
Sony has 3 months left in their targeted launch window, and we still don't have a price or release date. I smell a delay.
Sony did say "priced like a console". The last console they put out launched at $399.
The Xbox division has never made back the billions it lost. This was inevitable.
2 of the games I play the most, Don't Starve and Rocket League, were freebies. The Oddworld games were also freebies. There have been some fantastic titles given away. Just because the game didn't have a multi-million dollar budget doesn't mean those games haven't been among my favorite of the generation.
