You do realize that the Nintendo is selling every console it ships right? And it is selling more than the other two, so I don't know if I understand what you mean here...
Unless you mean the PS3 and 360 combined. Then you might see some on the shelves, but who knows. Nobody expected it to sell as well as it does, so anything is possible.
If you have had a chance to see the software sales for wii titles lately? If not, you should...
"Lots of people just pick up the console with Wii Sports, maybe pick up one or two more games, and that's it. The casual market apparently doesn't want to really buy all that many games."
The number of 360s and PS3s that remain unsold at electronic stores? I don't know about where you live, but around here you could buy either one of those at any time you wanted. They are available everywhere, whether they are sitting there collecting dust or not, I can't say. The Wii on the other hand, almost impossible to find.
All the people I know that own wiis are more than happy with their purchases, even those people I play UT3 with on a weekly basis.
I am responding to this article. Who knows how long the wii will continue to dominate, but I wouldn't say it's reign is over just yet.
Nintendo still has many cards to play when it comes to the wii. Here are 3 possibilities:
1. Dvd playback (but why?).
2. External HDD.
3. Downloadable content (see #2).
I know they don't advertise the features, but you can bet it would only take a system update to enable those features on the wii.
It is always refreshing to read your comments. If only more people here made mature comments like you...
Let's just hope that it is a good game as well...
In any event, it is a good way to show nay-sayers what the wii can do. Though, it makes me wonder why Nintendo themselves didn't write an engine that would push the wii to it's limits... Unless the engine in SMG does, but we have not yet seen all it is capable of doing...
I don't know if I am a hardcore wii gamer, I play games that I like, and that is it. What my wii can't play I play on my PC with all the eye candy turned on.
Wii fit will be a hit, and I will buy one. Those who can't buy it because it isn't "hardcore" enough for them are silly. Those who won't buy it because it isn't their thing are smart (especially if they don't complain about it).
Just be happy that those "Software don't sell on no wiis" comments are nowhere to be seen now. Clearly wii owners do buy wii games.
On other news, I bought Okami, and while it is a chatty game, it is a lot of fun to play. I am liking it very much.
At $90 it isn't particularly cheap, but seeing how much play DDR gets in my house, I think this thing will also get lots of play and will more than likely pay for itself in a couple of months (it will be fun to use).
I am glad to read your comment. It shows that there is hope for N4G...
Those were the first things that came to mind when I read the "360 like" graphics comments. People should at least view the tech demo, and actually pay attention to the comments made during the demo, especially the one where they mention that they didn't need the high polygon counts to achieve some of the mapping and whatnot effects.
Why would I buy a PS3 since:
1. I already have a Blu-Ray player.
2. Already have a PC with more balls (that ALSO plays Blu-Rays).
I mean if people want the best, they should get a good PC. Why waste money on toys like consoles?
You should not listen to what so called analysts say and get the console you want. I got a wii, and I am very happy with it. To each his own...
Good insight.
I have yet to see a wii at a gamestop, target, etc, but I never have any problems seeing plenty of PS3, or especially 360s everywhere.
It's funny how everyone has been playing for 20 years, and they chose the PS3 or 360.
Real games AT FULL EYE CANDY can only be played on a PC. Save up some cash, get some good hardware and then compare the same game on the PC and on a console. Here is a hint, a decent video card will cost you more than a PS3 and a 360 TOGETHER!!!
@10.5 Diablo? ha ha, I now a guy who loves that game too...
"...for next gen, that people don't "want" the latest graphics, cutting edge ai etc..."
The people who truly care about those things don't play consoles I am afraid. The use the only tool that will provide them with the best in technology there is: the PC.
I am a sucker for eye candy, and believe me, I wouldn't buy a console for that. The PC is where it's at. So please don't knock the wii because it doesn't have the processing power of the PS3 or ...
...some just don't get it...
I agree with his complaints too. I can't believe that there is a USB port that the wii just wont use for anything other than that silly ethernet adapter. My guess is that Nintendo will eventually release the patch that will allow users to use an external hard drive, or to connect other devices such as a keyboard to the wii.
Nintendo did mention in the past that they have many features left to reveal on the wii. It might just be that they will allow for external storage. Well, at ...
He said he was a PC gamer, so guess what, a keyboard has more buttons than an XBox controller. I am sure his comments about buttons are 'exaggerations.'
Though it should be noted, that some people (like me) bought a wii for the games it offers and not for shooters. That is what the PC is for...
And about the article, Nintendo is not waving good-bye to gamers. It is turning non-gamers into gamers!
