It is called choice.
I am a wii owner, and a Blu-Ray player owner. Notice how I am NOT a PS3 owner and will provably never be. It (PS3) just simply does not appeal to me. I already have two, better options to the options the PS3 provides, a better Blu-Ray player, and a better gaming platform: a PC.
The video card in my PC is worth more than a PS3 and an XBox, so it isn't a price thing. It is a choice thing, and for console gaming I chose the wii, and not only did I g...
I can't believe you got a disagree.
... no, people who don't want to play it, or those who want to play it don't come to your house...
...was the fact that the pool of new gamers is endless. There are thousands of new gamers every day and TO THEM, Mario and Sonic will be new. It is only until they become seasoned gamers that they will begin the realize the history and the tradition behind these mascots.
If Microsoft could use Master Chief as say, an office assistant, guess what, they would do it. If Sony could do the same with... who? who do they have?
The point is, Everybody knows who Mario is, and...
RE4, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, House of the Dead, Baroque, Alone in the Dark, No More Heroes, Guitar Hero 3 (Anyone saying they need the graphics for this game is impossible to please...), Okami, Dance Dance Revolution (See GH3 comment), etc.
There are lots of games for the wii, some hard core, some not. Notice how none of the games listed are Nintendo games?
From what I understand, they already had the next Zelda in development by the time they released the twilight princess, so it would be great news if they have another Zelda adventure. I mean why wouldn't they? Zelda games are always very good and there is a great audience ready to get them (I know I will get it when it comes out).
Why I don't understand is all the hating towards Nintendo franchises. Obviously there are lots of people out there buying these games, otherwise Ninten...
"Just not into being a part of silly button-mashing and brainless fun over skill and technique"
... and yet you call Sony and Microsoft "great"?
Last time I checked their next-gen consoles still required 30 button controllers (Yes, I know they don't have 30 btns...), while Nintendo went the other way. So which is it?
And since when did Tekken not need like 50 button presses to do a simple lower kick? I would be more inclined to believ...
They will sell at least one copy of this game (to me). I can't wait!
...because every time the thing catches fire you have to:
1. Get behind your cramped home theatre system to unplug all the cables and that takes time and effort. You can get sweaty.
2. Walk to your car with the console, and then walk to the service department once you get there. I mean, what if you park far away from the door? That could mean a long walk! or what if you have to take the bus, or ride your bike?
3. Actually go outside and do something... ...
Not only do I agree with you, but I will also give you a bubble...
... you must play PC games exclusively right?
I mean...
PC > PS3
PC > 360
PC > wii
so there...
Or you must be a sports fanatic that never plays video games...
Since you mention reflexes and whatnot, how about a PC? That way you get the best graphics and control accuracy (mouse and keyboard are the best, though the wii-mote and nunchuck are a close second when implemented well). Why limit yourself to console graphics? Just imagine what they would look like on a PC...
But developers who want total graphics freedom should consider the PC instead. That way there are no limits, other than PC customers are harder to impress...
So don't knock the Wii for offering people choice. And who says that games like wii-fit are eating away at the market? I mean, I like hardcore games (on the PC) like team fortress and UT3, but that doesn't mean I will deprive myself of the chance of playing with wii-fit, or that because I bought wii-fit that I won't get Gear...
...keep saying that 3rd party games don't sell well on the wii? Have these "well informed" people missed the sales figures of games like:
1. Guitar Hero 3.
2. Resident Evil 4.
3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.
... just to name some?
As far as the article goes, well, it just seems like the guy is sore that more people are buying other software than his. I mean, the nerve of some people. How dare they have a CHOICE.

Since Nintendo is competing on gameplay only, then I don't see why they wouldn't have the required staying power.
As some have mentioned above (i.e. Tetris), games with addictive game play have long lives, but games that rely on graphics as their main selling point rather than strong story lines/game play will tend to be less re-playable and dated quicker than games that are fun to play.
I mean who will be playing Heavenly Sword on the PS4? My guess is that SSBB wil...
I only have one console and it is the wii.
Why do you ask? Don't I want top of the line graphics? Internet connectivity? Blah, Blah, Blah?...
...yes I do. Thankfully I have a PC that will provide me with all the eyecandy, internet, and whatever else I need for gaming so I don't actually need to waste money on a PS3 or 360 which can only provide an inferior experience than a PC. The wii on the other hand provides a DIFFERENT experience, thus making it worth the money....
"However, with Nintendo’s arrogance and obsession with being different, they have made one major change to differentiate themselves from the competition..."
So, innovation (when coming from Nintendo) is called arrogance?
...right...
I own a wii, and I am pretty happy with the games lineup. I can't play Zelda on an XBox, or a PSX so there, so what is weak is in the eye of the beholder...
I also own a Blu-Ray player (read: more expensive than a PS3) and I don't regret not getting the PS3 instead. The actual player looks better, and actually fits better with the rest of my home theatre...
As for the best graphics (or next gen...), well, you can only find them on the PC, and that is why I will never...
I am a Nintendo customer, and I am not disappointed that the game has no voice chat. On the contrary, the console is much more than I expected it to be, and it keeps getting better and better, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo enabled more features as time goes along... After all, they've never completely revealed all the tricks the console has under its sleeve.
That while Nintendo "has nothing", they still sell more consoles than everybody else...
I am sure the other consoles would love to have some of that "nothing" Nintendo has going for themselves.
The wii just trampled the other consoles...
PSP did not to shabby... good work.
