I have to say the suspension seems heavy handed. Let's see if they level that type of punishment equitably when someone else makes a non game related political or controversial statement. But we all know that Blizzard's hands are tied by the CCP.
Well I do agree that the hate for the game itself is unwarranted as nobody has played it. I think most of the hate stems from the manner it was announced. Right or wrong, people went to Blizzcon 2018 expecting a Diablo 4 announcement. They got an over-hyped mobile announcement. Blizzard should have announced both at the same time. And of course Blizzard's snarky comments at Blizzcon 2018 didn't help much.
IMO, critics opinions are of limited value for me. When a critic has factual concerns over performance or some other game breaking bugs that is useful. But any qualitative opinions such as what is fun, beautiful, or meaningful, are purely subjective. That is fine to have their opinion but I don't generally base purchasing decisions off some random critic's opinion. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm more likely to make purchase decision based off previous expe...
Blizzard was willing to let the CCP influence their corporate decisions. That is shameful. There was a time when western companies stood firm against communist dictatorships. The CCP is thin skinned and weak if they are afraid of a professional CCG player and a couple community managers. Blizzard could have just taken no stance but no, they had to go full on suppression by firing and banning people. For what? Because they expressed a desire for people to be free.
Heck yea @UltraNova. I'll have to do the same vis-a-vis prep for next Friday. I pick up my copy Friday AM and then it's Death Stranding all Friday / weekend.
I'll trust my past history with Kojima games. I'll definitely be playing. I don't recall the last game which a site like IGN or any 'major' game site influenced my purchase decision.
At this point in time I have no interest in paying MS more subscription fees.
Agreed, it's a little hyperbolic but so what. Maybe the full term he means to convey is creative genius. But honestly nobody really means to put Kojima in the category of Einstein or da Vinci.
Artist's work are routinely critiqued. So IMO people are welcome to criticize the work. It's another thing to force an artist not to create something but one should be free to express their opinions, artists and critics alike.
I am from NA but you can put me in that very wary category of digital only gaming consoles too.
Sure seems the Unreal Engine is more capable than the Creation Engine. Looking forward to this game.
I found Division 2 much better than Anthem. I do agree Division 2 feels like an expansion rather than a sequel but still had much more content and more polish than Anthem. Massive continues to support TD2 whereas it looks like EA has abandoned Anthem.
I don't put much faith in MS either but seeing as we have no choice, I'll wait to see how Obsidian is allowed to create over the next 5 years.
I think his point is that supporting them reinforces lousy business practices from a studio which many once loved. People had hope that Bethesda would turn the ship around slowly (esp with Wastelanders) but instead they appear to be tone deaf. But hey, you're free to buy whatever you like.
I'll play it on my pc as well. Glad Obsidian appears to have made a good game. Looking forward to it. I didn't realize they used the Unreal Engine. Surely makes for far better mechanics than the Creation Engine.
Few sales from PS4? I wouldn't be surprised it sells more on PS4 than XB1. Much of Xb1 install base will be from Gamepass. So actual individual sales could well be more on PS4.
With inflation and new tech I expect the initial price to be higher than $399 on launch. I have no problem with that if the consoles have very good specs. Would $399 be nice? Sure. But is not a make or break for me if they are more. I'll save some cash on the side now for my next year's day 1 purchase
Article titles like this are such click-bait ploys. I thought it was a great game. Perfect? No. The hyperbole is sad. 'of All Time'. Gimme a break.
I can imagine $399 is possible as long as Sony feels like they have good attach rate and subscription service rates from PS+ and PSNow which would make up that hardware sold at a loss. But I still feel like $399 is unlikely at initial release. It'll probably be higher than that.
I don't think you would 'telegraph' your departure ahead of an official announcement in such a way. I'd be surprised a professional would do that. More likely some other announcement.
