You have no idea what you are talking about.
If the consoles can both do 4k60 then how will a power advantage in TFlops be noticed? Few televisions do over 60 frames. So unless you use a computer monitor you'd never see a frame rate difference. Can anyone detect a difference between 60 fps and 75 fps?I think where it may be noticeable is that PS5 will have twice as fast storage. I really think the uninitiated are putting alot of stock into a TFLop count and not looking at the overall architecture. Sony will sell more everywhere for...
Based on what? A TFlop? XB will give some children a perceived bragging right but in the end it will be a distant second maybe 3rd. 4K60 is 4k60. How many people are using televisions which are 120hz? Some people care about the games rather than the machine.
I think Dreams will have some amazing creations in the years to come. Frankly I can see studios reaching out to some of these creators as such work shows a high degree of talent worthy of possible recruitment. Granted for all we know some creations in Dreams may be made by professionals already.
Mark Cerny is a developer and hardware architect. He is not a marketing person. The presentation went over the head of most gamers who are not knowledgeable about such deep technical info. I think Sony billed this as a deep dive on architecture not as a marketing presentation. Marketing presentations will occur at other venues. Gamers will understand when they can play games at 4k/60. X1x is more powerful graphics wise than the PS4 Pro today but it makes no difference. Ultimately, it was the ...
Oh so true. Most people are so clueless when it comes to computer architecture. The presentation by Mark Cerny went over most people's heads but developers and people trained in computer sciences. Is the Xbox a superior balanced architecture? That remains to be seen. If the APU is higher performance but data starved due to other bottlenecks then it might be meaningless. Both consoles will do 4k/60. Anyone buying these consoles for 8K is kidding themselves. By the time 8K is readily availa...
PS has better games overall. XB has 1.5 TFlop advantage? PS players will stick with PS5. Nobody will ever notice what a 1.5 TFlop graphics chip difference will mean. Both consoles targeted 4K/60. At the end of the day specs are less significant unless there is a "significant" gap like 1080p v 900p like last gen releases in 2013. So if Sony were to have announced a 13 TFlop console they would have converted more XBoxers? Probably not. People change platforms based on games and where ...
There is no doubt that PS5 is day 1. MS has said nothing that makes their next console a day 1 purchase. No exclusives all games will run on my X1x. Why buy the next XB right away? Nobody will ever notice what 1.62 TF means in a game. X1x is still more powerful than PS4 Pro today. But who cares? Nobody. The problem MS has and will continue to have is their games lineup is not as good.
I don't think people understand the nature of what Sony developed. Most non computer engineers see TFlops and think that is the only measure of performance. They would be wrong. The discrete component capabilities of the PS5 APU will be more than enough to deliver 4k / 60 fps + higher. Neither of these consoles will properly do 8K gaming. Who has an 8K display? Nearly nobody. But if XB fans want to claim some TFlop trophy be my guest. But it is overly simplistic way to look at it. It...
Least we not forget that X1x is today more powerful than PS4 Pro but nobody cares. At the end of the day if both consoles can do 4K 60 fps at launch that is great. For me it'll be PS5 first buy then later down the line a XB.
it's likely more than 100 million people. A PS4 in a household might have multiple users using it. But yea I agree, lots and lots of people interested in PS5 as they are already happy PS4 owners.
The consoles will be very similar hardware wise. Not identical but similar. Except for the exclusive games....
But a fridge has better cooling.
Question A: What type of opinion pieces do you think are making it hard to get news on N4G or detract from actual news?
2. Opinions on rumors
Question B: What is your biggest problem with opinion pieces on N4G?
2. Clickbait or misleading titles and information in opinion pieces
3. People discuss the opinion pieces more than the actual news
Why do certain 'journalists' keep harping on Sony making an announcement? Just because MS laid their cards on the table means everyone has to? I'm looking forward to PS5 reveal but it'll happen when it happens.
@Imalwaysright That article confirms the OP point. Margins are low on high volume console sales. Hence nVidia couldn't command the high price/margin they prefer. I won't say nVidia is necessarily "overpriced" but surely it has historically cost more relative to similar performance AMD GPUs. That said, I do love my 1080Ti Strix card in my pc.
You could make the case Phil is right. Sony nor Nintendo are XBox competition. XBox has been losing that market for years now. The streaming games on mobile phones market is potentially large but maybe not big spenders. I imagine the Candy Crush crowd is full of small time spenders and the occasional whale. Those people who consider themselves longtime gamers are not the focus of Xbox. I have at best only minimal interest in streaming my games. If streaming is a flop or very slow adoption rat...
3. No.
EA is also releasing the same sports game with minor tweaks every year. The odds of this practice stopping is extremely low. Until people stopping buying the product it will continue. If other's chose to buy these products annually, I guess that's there business. It's just not for me.
Reminds me of the graphics in Terraria. And Terraria is a fantastic game.
